The Division

The Role

The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to contribute to the Surface Chemistry of Implants and Fabrication of Polymer Medical Devices.

The successful applicant will collaborate with faculty and researchers at CENTMED to enhance the surface chemistry of implant materials, improving biocompatibility and osteointegration. This will involve surface modification of implants through methods such as plasma treatment, silanization, and the application of specialty coatings to impart corrosion resistance. Additionally, the candidate will develop polymeric lubricious coatings for catheters to minimize injury to blood vessels during the trans-catheterization process. They will characterize the surface modifications of implants using microscopy techniques, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The candidate will also map the nanomechanical properties of implant surfaces, assessing factors such as adhesion, friction, Young s modulus, and surface free energy using AFM. The ideal candidate will bring experience in developing polymeric medical devices by identifying unmet clinical needs through interactions with clinicians, designing and developing medical devices, and fabricating medical device prototypes. Furthermore, the candidate should have experience in polymer processing techniques, including filament extrusion, compression molding, injection molding, and fused deposition modeling. This position requires the preparation of ISO/ASTM test specimens for mechanical (tensile and flexural) testing of polymers and composites using a Universal Testing Machine (UTM). The candidate will also estimate the glass transition temperature of polymers and composite materials through Dynamic Mechanical Analysis and develop osteoconductive polymeric implants for skull base surgery. Furthermore, the candidate will be involved in quantifying the adsorption of biomolecules on polymeric coatings using Quartz Crystal Microbalance with dissipation monitoring to model plaque build-up in coronary blood vessels. Other responsibilities include developing orthotic assistive devices from sustainable polymers and composites and co-developing medical devices with industry partners. The candidate will also assist in filing intellectual property rights related to medical device innovations. In addition to experimental work, the candidate will collaborate with CENTMED staff and leadership to prepare technology documentation and facilitate the translation of innovations to industry.

1. JOB PURPOSE :

The Invoicing Accountant is responsible for the smooth operation for (securities) trade settlement by confirming and finalizing transactions, communicating with trading counterparties, brokers and custodian banks, and resolving trade discrepancies. This position will also be responsible for following up on trade fails and handling the settlement of commodity and derivative transactions. The team is handling all settlements for AGT and is the interface between Traders, Operators and Counterparties on (complex) price related queries.

2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Work closely with Invoicing Manager and Finance Operations Manager across Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office and Support Services to ensure invoices are reviewed, prepared and issued accurately in a high volume, quick turnaround trading environment
  • Review and approve complex pricing formulas and align internally with Front Office and externally with counterparties any discrepancies
  • Support preparation of management information, KPIs, invoicing reports
  • Understanding of more complex trade products is required to perform role effectively (Derivatives, complex derivative deals, Swaps, Bookouts)
  • Responsible for chasing of late payments and liaising directly with the counterparty
  • Assisting in the period and weekly financial close processes and reporting (Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable)
  • Monitor trade settlement status and follow through on pending transactions for timely settlements.
  • Maintain updated broker settlement instructions for cash and securities for all markets
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Invoicing team, supporting the Operations and Tax teams to ensure accurate processing of indirect tax transactions and adherence to all applicable regulations
  • Support production of quarter and period-end reports in a timely fashion
  • Support daily global performance reporting and ad-hoc reporting requirements

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor as part of our Construction team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be full time onshore site based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Objective:
  • Plan and execute site surveys to support construction, installation, and engineering activities with precision and efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, and reference systems for accurate layout and alignment of pipelines, structures, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements in all survey operations.
  • Lead and supervise survey teams , assigning tasks and ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and QA/QC teams to resolve discrepancies and support project execution.
  • Manage survey data and documentation , including topographic maps, as-built records, and digital models.
  • Utilize and maintain surveying instruments and tools , ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Implement safety protocols during survey activities, identifying and mitigating risks related to terrain and equipment.
  • Support construction progress tracking through regular site measurements and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Plan and execute all site survey activities to support construction, installation, and engineering operations.
  • Establish and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, and reference grids for accurate layout and alignment of pipelines, structures, and equipment.
  • Lead and supervise the survey team , ensuring proper task allocation, performance monitoring, and adherence to project timelines.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and QA/QC teams to ensure survey data supports design and execution requirements.
  • Conduct topographic, geodetic, and as-built surveys , ensuring precision and compliance with project specifications.
  • Review and validate survey data , ensuring accuracy before submission to project stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and use of surveying instruments , including GPS, Total Stations, and Laser Scanners.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed survey reports, drawings, and documentation , ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Support construction teams by providing accurate layout and elevation data for civil, structural, and pipeline works.
  • Monitor and resolve discrepancies between design drawings and actual site conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards during all survey operations and promote safe work practices within the team.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and client representatives to address survey-related queries and provide technical support.
  • Train and mentor junior surveyors , fostering skill development and adherence to best practices.
