The Department of Electrical Engineering (ELE) in the College of Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a Visiting Faculty Position starting in August 2026 (Fall).

Area: Open to all areas of Electrical Engineering

The position primarily focuses on teaching and is a one-year renewable contract. Applicants should have a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Evidence of excellence in teaching is required, and experience within the American higher education model is highly desirable.

You are invited to apply for a tenure-track position in the Control systems and intelligent decision-making within theElectricalEngineering (EE) program. Emphasis will be given in: a) Machine and Reinforcement Learning on Robotics and Control Systems, and b) Autonomous Systems. The available opening is at the Assistant Professor rank. The EE-program has invested in robotics and there are exceptional facilities in aerial/ground and submersible agents, haptics, brain machine interface(s), vision, and autonomous systems including its 1000m3motion capture arena. TheCenter for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics(CAIR) will play a pivotal role in the applications oriented side of this position. Faculty in NYUAD s EE have close collaboration with their colleagues at NYU sECEandCSEdepartments. NYUNY is well known globally for its research in Communications, Robotics and Control, and Machine Learning. NYUAD s Global PhD student fellowship program assists in tightening this collaboration and sharing of knowledge and expertise.

NYUAD has state-of-the-art research facilities in a new 15-acre campus on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The core research infrastructure has extensive and exceptional range of instruments for robotics, water research, imaging, 3D-printing and fabrication, and others. In addition, the Engineering Division of NYUAD has close collaborations with the faculty and students at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and has access to the world-class research centers and infrastructure in New York. Students are drawn from around the globe, surpassing all traditional academic benchmarks.
