Heidelberg Materials Trading is the international trading arm of the Heidelberg Materials Group, handling overseas dry-bulk products exports and imports. For our Dubai office, we are looking for a highly talented individual as a;
Key Responsibilities:
- Calculate competitive freight for internal cargoes as requested by trade department
- Conclude competitive fixtures for internal cargoes based on voyage charter terms
- Oversee a book of cargoes for specific geographical areas
- Coordinate with the operations department on the follow up of execution of voyages as per charterparty terms.
- Assist operations department to finalize demurrage/dispatch agreements and final freight settlements with shippers, receivers, and ship-owners
- Ensure the shipping software is updated at all times with correct entries and full compliance
- Reviewing of Sales and Purchase Contracts and Documents Instructions and Partial Liaising with Trade Ops team and Traders with comments as/when necessary
- Preparation of periodical shipping market reports and undertaking data analysis
- Providing support to trading departments located in various countries
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of voyage charterparties, shipping law, marine insurance and International Environmental Regulations
- 3-5 years of experience in chartering, shipping and dry bulk logistics handling
- Significant network within the international dry bulk shipping industry
- Operational experience in handling dry bulk shipments
- University degree, preferably in Maritime Business Administration, Shipping or a related field.
- Willing to pursue a long-term career in a global multinational company
- A hardworking team player with corporate professionalism and the ability and enthusiasm to work long and flexible hours
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (TOEFL IBT 100+ or equal is a must).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Good analytical and reporting skills
- Flexibility for international travel and mobility

Job Summary
The Risk and Compliance Manager – Dry Bulk Chartering is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks while ensuring regulatory compliance in chartering operations. This role supports strategic decision-making by monitoring market volatility, counterparty risks, and legal obligations, safeguarding the company’s financial and operational integrity.
Main Responsibilities

Risk Management
Develop, implement and manage a Robust Risk Model which incorporates all positions (including FFA and Swaps)
Identify and assess risks (market, credit, operational, geopolitical).
Monitor freight markets and advise on hedging strategies (FFAs, derivatives).
Develop, implement and manage a “Counterparty due diligence (credit checks, sanctions screening) Policy"
Conduct risk analysis, trade risk, due diligence checks for counterparties, vessels and contracting parties, ensuring
compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
Highlight high-risk counterparties, exposed transactions, and deviations from standard procedures in the reports
Sanctions & Compliance
Develop, implement and manage the Compliance Framework, team strategy and plan in line with the Global Compliance strategy and the compliance risk profile with the objective of ensuring that compliance risks are
appropriately managed and ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Implement and enforce internal compliance policies
Design and conduct regular compliance risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential areas of non-compliance.
Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of compliance tools to support the organization's objectives
Maintain oversight of the compliance monitoring program across the company. Program to include monitoring of transactions, business communications and any regulatory requirements reviews as applicable
Prepare senior management information and reporting regarding all compliance activities
Conducting regular audits on compliance processes related to fixed vessels.
Oversee the compliance monitoring program, including transaction monitoring, business communications reviews, and
trade surveillance.
Document Control: Establish and maintain document control processes to ensure the proper creation, review, approval, distribution, and retention of documents, including policies, procedures, specifications, and records.
Compliance and Reporting: Monitor regulatory changes and industry trends related to quality management and document control. Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and customer requirements. Prepare
reports and metrics to track performance and compliance
Develop, implement and manage the Compliance Framework, team strategy and plan in line with the Global Compliance strategy and the compliance risk profile with the objective of ensuring that compliance risks are
appropriately managed and ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Financial Crime and AML (Anti-Money Laundering)
FATF compliance and anti-bribery standards; Know Your Customer (KYC); Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs); Internal controls on financial flows
Contract Review & Governance
Liaise with insurers and legal counsel to ensure adequate risk coverage for cargo, operations, and liabilities.
Cross-jurisdictional compliance (IMO, OFAC, port regulations)
Review and negotiate charter party agreements (BIMCO, NYPE, GENCON).
Conducting compliance due diligence on third parties
Maintain standardized clause library and ensure ESG compliance (CII, EEXI).
Internal Controls & Reporting
Develop risk dashboards and KPIs for senior management.
Lead incident investigations (claims, disputes) and recommend corrective actions.
Stakeholder Engagement
Advise senior management on risk-reward trade-offs.
Collaborate with operations, finance, and insurance teams.
Contract Review & Governance
Liaise with insurers and legal counsel to ensure adequate risk coverage for cargo, operations, and liabilities.

Assist the business with further developing regulatory solutions and ensure continued and ongoing regulatory

Provision of regular and ad hoc training to the business on regulatory or compliance issues
Support the set-up, implementation and operation of risk prevention tools
Collaborate with corporate stakeholders to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations
Assess the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance or regulatory risks
Identify opportunities for process improvements in due diligence and compliance management. Decide on the implementation of new technologies or methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
