The Division seeks a visionary Dean able to lead a distinguished and diverse faculty engaged in research in emerging technology breakthroughs such as robotics, cybersecurity, smart cities, bioengineering, energy, and environmental sustainability. The next Dean will have a record of designing and fostering environments that produce high-quality research responding in powerful and multidisciplinary ways to vital global and local challenges.

Reporting to the Provost, the Dean will inspire and guide academic and administrative efforts, ensuring alignment with NYUAD's strategic goals and elevating its role within the NYU Global Network. Through their experience and passion for research and education, the Dean will help articulate the Division and NYUAD's mission, share its achievements, and enhance the university's identity and global positioning. Candidates should have an academic record appropriate for a tenured appointment as a full professor in one of the departments within the Division of Engineering at NYUAD and a demonstrated track record of working closely with undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.

The incoming Dean will have demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and promoting faculty, providing an environment where they can thrive through meaningful discourse, research support, and collaboration. The successful candidate will be committed to the ideals of a liberal arts education, possess a strong research agenda, and ideally have experience with multidisciplinary collaboration, global education, faculty development, and capacity for administrative leadership including supervision of staff, budgeting, and operational oversight.

• Supervises all departments concerning students: Admissions & Registration, Activities & Career Development, and the library.

• Develops and supervises programs and policies that support the personal, social, cultural, and educational development of students.

• Assumes responsibility for working with students on academic affairs issues, such as Orientation, academic progression, academic support services, registration, and similar matters.

• Liaises with Admissions, the Registrar, Marketing, and Recruitment.

• Develops and oversees the Center for Teaching and Learning, initiating programs, workshops, and faculty development activities to support instructional development, innovation in teaching, use of instructional technology, student-centered pedagogies, and assessments for learning.

• Reviews, researches, and develops a general education program, collaborating with faculty and the DVCAA.

• Researches and identifies new academic majors in collaboration with the DVCAA and assists in locating partners.

• Oversees documentation for accreditation of new programs and program review in collaboration with the head of the IRO.

• Develops a comprehensive vision and strategy for student programs, policies, and services.

• Provides student advocacy to facilitate communication between students, faculty, and administration.

• Expands and develops the Student Affairs staff; recruits, supervises, evaluates, and mentors staff.

• Assesses Student Affairs programs and services; plans and implements needed changes.

• Prepares, monitors, and manages the annual Student Affairs budget.

• Advises students on personal, academic, and professional issues; refers them to other resources when appropriate.
