General Ledger Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Ledger Accountant to manage a full spectrum of accounting responsibilities, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll processing. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, timely processing of payments and receivables, and full compliance with statutory and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger (GL):

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure proper classification of transactions
  • Conduct monthly and annual closing activities
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Support financial audits and ensure compliance with IFRS/local GAAP

Accounts Payable (AP):

  • Process supplier invoices and ensure proper authorization and coding
  • Prepare payment runs and handle vendor payments via bank transfers or checks
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Maintain the AP ledger and ensure timely month-end closing
  • Ensure compliance with procurement and expense policies

Accounts Receivable (AR):

  • Issue customer invoices based on contracts, delivery notes, or time sheets
  • Follow up on outstanding receivables and ensure timely collection
  • Apply receipts and maintain accurate customer account balances
  • Prepare aging reports and provide commentary on overdue accounts
  • Work closely with commercial teams to resolve billing disputes

Payroll:

  • Process monthly payroll for all employees in compliance with labor laws and company policies
  • Calculate earnings, bonuses, deductions, end-of-service benefits (EOSB), and allowances
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll inputs including new joiners, leavers, and changes
  • Submit statutory filings such as WPS (UAE) or similar, and liaise with HR for updates
  • Maintain payroll records and generate reports for management and auditing purposes

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CMA) is an advantage

Experience:

  • 4–6 years of progressive experience in a similar accounting role
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle GL, AP, AR, and payroll
  • Experience working with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics)

Purpose and Scope of the Position

To manage and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, ensure timely reporting, support budget processes, and assist with financial analysis and audits. The role requires strong experience in GL accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
  • Perform monthly and quarterly GL reconciliations and ensure all balances are accurate
  • Ensure timely closing of monthly and year-end accounts
  • Generate accurate financial reports and assist with financial statement preparation
  • Review and maintain fixed asset ledgers and depreciation schedules

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts

Job Purpose
The General Ledger Manager is responsible for overseeing the general ledger accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting the Director of Accounting in maintaining a robust financial reporting system. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and leadership skills to manage the general ledger team and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. Responsible for managing the accounts payables, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger function and maintaining the financial records.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the general ledger accounting functions, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Develop and implement general ledger policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Manage and mentor the general ledger team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger, including the timely closing of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts.
  • Prepare and analyse financial statements, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Perform income statement review, accounts analysis.
  • Ensure all monthly accruals, reconciliations are prepared before concluding the month end reporting.
