Your role will be to lead the global Energy and Infrastructure business development (BD) team. • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Contract/Cost Management or Business Administration from an accredited university
• 8+ years’ of relevant experience in an international Procurement organization performing regional category management, contract negotiation and bidding, with 3+ years managing CAPEX categories
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, work with multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple geographies to manage complex projects within cost and schedule to deliver results
• Demonstrated ability to create and implement category strategies, develop pricing models, to influence and execute across all levels of an organization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, Procurement & Supply chain or relevant business discipline
• Industry experience in electric utility, data center, energy, engineering or infrastructure service provider in a commercial/procurement role
• Ability to communicate and report on market intelligence data, including commodity trends and labor indexes
• Experience with creating/improving Procurement processes, systems and tools

By establishing and growing business and technical relationships, and managing the day-to-day interactions with these partners, you will be responsible for meeting the energy team objectives to support AWS’s infrastructure expansion in the ASEAN region. This role is based out of Singapore. 15% travel may be required. Key job responsibilities

  1. Manage the interconnection of AWS data centers in the region to the electric grid by working with utilities and local authorities to ensure on time, on budget and to specifications MV & HV transmission works & substation delivery.
  2. Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Planning, Real estate, Design, Procurement, Construction, Operations, Finance & Commissioning teams to coordinate project activities and resolve any issues that may arise during project execution.
  3. Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders, including progress reports, financial updates, region strategy documents and risk assessments.
  4. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including power utilities, regulators, suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
  5. Undertake power due diligence for new or proposed data center sites to check power availability and feasibility.
  6. Interface with power utilities and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals and permits for project implementation.
  7. Managing utility contracts/retail agreements – entering into connection agreement; contracting the right capacity to optimize on power purchase costs.
  8. Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objective.
  9. Study, understand and have view on regional power infrastructure network and utility planning and changes to the broader power infrastructure.
  10. Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure improvements.
  11. Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects and initiatives related to power infrastructure and supply.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required in Engineering/Business or other technical field.
- 4 plus years working in utility/renewables/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role.
- 2 plus years of managing multiple million dollar infrastructure projects with external stakeholders to drive projects to completion.
- Experience in budgeting and analyzing cost/benefit trade-offs across a strategic portfolio.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to manage complex and/or multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills capable of building strategic working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in one of project management, planning, engineering, developing or constructing substations or other 20kV or greater energy infrastructure.
- High level technical understanding of MV & HV Transmission Line and substation, with a familiarity of local ASEAN grid codes, grid connectivity procedures, grid application procedures and roles and responsibilities, standards of performance of Distribution / Transmission Utilities.
- Experience working directly with power utilities and other energy regulators.
- Experience successfully negotiating new tariff rates, power purchase agreements and/or energy infrastructure contracts in regulatory regimes.
- Experience with IT infrastructure, data centers and cloud services.
- Ability to self-start and self-motivate in a dynamic environment with partial information and high levels of ambiguity which requires looking around corners to deliver results for the business.
