Our client is a world leader in the Energy, Chemicals and Petroleum insurance sector providing risk engineering services across the globe, for clients in all COMAH sectors, from oil & gas exploration and production, through refining and downstream petrochemicals. The business is looking to recruit an additional engineer to work in its fast growing and well-established Middle East hub in Abu Dhabi.
The role will be heavily client facing, undertaking physical condition surveys of client assets, generating descriptions of processes and their key control features, producing building and plant loss estimates, conducting training, and benchmarking exercises and performing desk-top risk exercises. The role offers the opportunity to interact with senior client staff in risk management, operations, and engineering functions. The ability to communicate to all organizational levels is a critical competency, and a key task is the production of underwriting reports, requiring the ability to summarise data in a structured report format.
Responsibilities:- Undertake physical condition surveys of client assets.
- Generate descriptions of processes and their key control features.
- Produce building and plant loss estimates.
- Conduct training and benchmarking exercises.
- Perform desk-top risk exercises.
- Interact with senior client staff in risk management, operations, and engineering functions.
- Produce underwriting reports with structured data summaries.
- Substantial experience within oil & gas, LNG, refining or petrochemical operations.
- Experience in Inspection or asset Integrity, operational process safety or group audit is beneficial.
- Background in oil and gas operations, technical support and maintenance functions is ideal.

Ketjen is hiring for a Sales Support Specialist.
You will be responsible for facilitating the inquiry to order process by providing administrative support to both the sales team, Business Management and Technical Service team by coordinating and assessing opportunities, quotations, and price authorizations regarding terms, prices, products, customers, units , NDA setups, sample shipment, travel arrangements, Visa requests and other relevant data within the administrative sales system (Salesforce.com and SAP 4) in order to ensure an order is processed in a timely and accurate way. Also giving advice on order / contract related subjects, delivering on request data from SAP / SFDC, providing ad hoc and occasional administrative support.
What you will do:
- Advises and supports the Technical Sales in drawing up and changing quotations to customers within the prospect to order process regarding specific possibilities or restrictions on topics like delivery conditions, payment conditions, transport, packaging, import procedures;
- Processes all relevant data of quotation or order in the various administrative systems and ensures that all data (customer data, agent data, price elements, percentages of commissions agents) are correct and in agreement with each other so that the system is constantly up to date;
- Follows the quotation / order during the entire process and makes sure that the right people need to approve take action where necessary to ensure that the quotation / order runs correctly and smoothly;
- Is the first point of contact for everything regarding the quote to order process and is the linking pin for the internal and external stakeholders;
- Checks the prices and ensures that the dates of prices, sku's and price authorizations are correct in the system (also for changes and renewals) and communicates with the Global price coordinator
- Ensures correct handling of items arising from an tender requirements and order such as providing bid bonds, tender fees and bank guarantees or letters of Credit.
- Maintains intensive contact with the Catalysts Order to Cash team and the price and customer coordinator regarding the outstanding and expected orders.
- Ensures internal and external audit reporting on the commercial activities.
- Making metal escalations and quotes and Pricing Approvals for the benefit of Sales
- Making Pricing Approvals for quarterly prices in FCC and HPC for Sales
- Replacing Sales Support colleagues within the Global Sales Support group
- Enter contracts and agreements into Apptus and follow up on approvals
- Go-to-market: administrative support to local entities in UAE and Saudi. Support in arranging travel supports for team for site visits or workshops.
- Customer catalyst inventory monitoring to minimize risk of delayed deliveries
- Coordination with CSR to track catalyst orders and shipments and liaise with customers in case of delays in deliveries
- Coordination of deliveries and payment of oil and catalyst samples sent by customers to Ketjen for analysis
- Coordination of spent catalyst disposal paperwork and payments.
- Helps prepare and update sales dashboard
- Supports regional marketing related activities initiated by Sales/GTS to promote Ketjen’s visibility in the region like admin tasks for invitations, follow up on registering customers;
Knowledge and experience
- Bachelor level (commercial and / or logistics)
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience (commercial and / or logistics)
- Insight into the business and business processes preferable in Oil and Gas sector
- Experience with relevant systems (SAP 4, Salesforce.com) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook) experience.
- Analytical insight
- To be able to set priorities and act in a solution-oriented manner.
- Stress resistant and accurate.
- Languages:, Mandatory English, Knowing Arabic is an advantage

The organisation’s Gulf hub is enjoying significant client support and impressive levels of growth. The highly successful business offers additional advisory services on a range of Insurance issues such as claims, risk mitigation and BI management.
Role
Our client is seeking 2 engineers with very significant experience in Oil/Gas, LNG, Refining or Petrochemicals. The successful candidates are likely to be degree qualified Chemical or Mechanical Engineers who have excellent knowledge of process operations /production/maintenance and operational process safety management. The successful candidate will be the engineering representative on key accounts, supporting our client executive teams with technical analysis and insights. A key part of the role will be conducting Underwriting Surveys and producing reports whose output will be a description of the facilities, an analysis of loss control features and engineering/ financial based loss analysis and estimates for building a plant loss/replacement. This requires the ability to summarise data in a structured format. Other key deliverable includes the production and delivery of training packagesand contributing to BCM and ERM type studies. Applicants are sought primarily from offshore production, refining, gas processing, refining, ethylene and derivatives or ammonia/methanol industries; however, the ability to be adaptable and to quickly grasp new technical and loss prevention principles is the core requirement.
As well as a process Operations/Production background, it is essential that the candidates also bring significant experience/knowledge of at least one of the following:
-Process Safety
-Inspection/Asset Integrity/Condition surveys
-Maintenance, or Inspection/Asset Integrity.
- Business Interruption /Consequential Loss
-Additional experience in a construction/project execution type role is also an advantage, but not essential.
General Attributes /Location /Core Requirements
For all the roles the following attributes would be beneficial but are not essential:
-Fluency in Arabic
-Fluency in French
-At least one of the Energy Risk Engineer positions will be based in Bahrain, with the other key location being Dubai
All the roles have core requirements:
- they involve 60-80 nights away per year within EMEA
-Written and Verbal Communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work at all levels within a client Organisation. Production of the Underwriting report following a survey is a key skill.
-The ability to lead a team of insurance engineers to conduct Underwriting Surveys, typically between 2- and 5-day duration at client sites
- For key sites or large sites extended surveys of 2 weeks are sometimes required
-Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential
