We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and managing all technical aspects of joinery and interior design projects. This role involves leading a team, ensuring design accuracy, coordinating with various stakeholders, and upholding quality standards. You will effectively manage the Technical Team to include Shop Drawing Production, Workshop Drawing Production, CNC Programming, Works Orders, Cutting Lists, Parts Lists, Material Submittal, RFI’s & Drawing Registers.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY / BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES

Overall Technical / Material and Design Department Management

• Lead and manage the technical / Material and designdepartment, overseeing both project and factory aspects.

• Ensure efficient workflow and effective collaboration between design, production, and other relevant teams.

Shop Drawing Preparation and Coordination

• Prepare shop drawing schedules based on Bill of Quantities (BOQ), Interior Design (ID), and Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings.

• Interpret 3D interior design sketches and provide clear instructions to draftsman.

• Assign tasks to draftsman for shop drawing and as-built drawing preparation.

• Coordinate production draftsman to generate production orders and cutting lists.

Quality Control and Approvals

• Check and approve shop drawings to ensure they adhere to design specifications and standards.

• Review and approve variation requests, collecting necessary documentation for the estimation department.

• Oversee the preparation of ironmongery schedules and materials requirements.

Coordination and Communication

• Coordinate site and factory activities to ensure seamless project execution.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, and main contractors to address technical queries and ensure project alignment.

• Manage subcontractor coordination for elements such as steel, glass, and MEP.

Project Meetings and Documentation

• Attend project meetings and take responsibility for preparing accurate minutes of the meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Civil Engineering, Interior Design, or a related field.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of5 years of experience in joinery, woodworking, and fit-out projects, and managing technical and design aspects.

TECHNICAL KSAs/ CERTIFICATIONS, ETC.

• Proficiency in interpreting 3D sketches and translating them into accurate shop drawings.

• Thorough understanding of joinery techniques, interior design, and fit-out processes.

• Excellent knowledge of materials, finishes, and ironmongery used in joinery and fit-out projects.

• Strong project coordination skills, including site and factory management.

• Effective communication and coordination skills with clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.

• Familiarity with relevant software tools for drafting, design, and project management.

• Certification in project management or relevant technical field is a plus.

• Interpreting Architectural Plans:

  • Read blueprints and drawings to understand project requirements and dimensions.

• Surface Preparation:

  • Clean and level surfaces, set forms, and ensure proper alignment before starting any masonry work.

• Material Handling:

  • Mix and prepare mortar, cement, and other adhesives to the required consistency for use in construction.

• Bricklaying and Block Work:

  • Lay bricks, concrete blocks, or natural stones in mortar to build walls, partitions, arches, and other structures.

• Plastering & Rendering:

  • Apply coats of plaster to walls, ceilings, and partitions for both structural and aesthetic purposes.

• Tiling & Finishing Work:

  • Set floor or wall tiles with precision and ensure a level, durable installation. Smooth and polish concrete and masonry surfaces.

• Repair & Maintenance:

  • Remove damaged masonry, replace broken bricks, repair walls, and restore historical structures when needed.

• Measuring and Cutting:

  • Measure and cut bricks or blocks using hand tools, power saws, or wet saws to meet design specifications.

• Scaffolding & Safety Compliance:

  • Set up and work from scaffolding when required. Follow health and safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE.

• Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Coordinate with site engineers, carpenters, steel fixers, and other workers to ensure smooth progress of construction.

• Minimum X years of experience as a Mason or related field.
• Proficient in various masonry techniques (brickwork, blockwork, stonework, plastering, tiling).
• Ability to work with precision and attention to detail.
