The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a postdoctoral research associate to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use.
CENTMED oversees a variety of exciting projects developing new treatments and diagnostics for cardiovascular, neurologic, and metabolic diseases. The successful applicant will join a number of fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to modulate physiology and neural activity in the brain, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and other peripheral organs. These projects have a high potential for translation towards treating a variety of neurologic and metabolic disorders. These approaches entail device design and manufacturing, drug conjugation, neuroscience, and preclinical model experiments.
The candidate will work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment alongside PhD-level engineers and scientists, graduate students, and full-time researchers. They will also have the chance to contribute to other projects within CENTMED, working on cutting-edge initiatives spanning metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on next-generation surgical technologies, bridging the gap between engineering innovation and clinical application.
Applicants must have a PhD in an engineering or biomedical-related field. Excellent experimental skills relevant to the project (in particular device design and fabrication, drug conjugation, and in vitro and in vivo experimentation) are required. Proficiency in English is required.

Responsibilities:
- As a Junior Information Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that digital content is created, stored and published using the latest technologies and best practices in line with the Contract(s).
- Ensure internal and external capability and capacity processes are implemented and followed.
- Help in administering the CDE and support project team in its utilization as directed by the Information Manager.
- Undertake the functions of effective information management as part of the project management team in accordance with ISO 19650 and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle, where AtkinsRealis are either the Lead Appointed Party or an Appointed Party.
- Support auditing task teams in the delivery of their Task Information Delivery Plans, to meet the Appointing Parties Requirements as directed by the Information Manager.
- Have a solid understanding of construction processes.
- Support strategic AtkinsRealis global and regional digital initiatives.
- Support annual ISO 19650 certification maintenance process.
- Support the Information Manager(s) in line with the business RACI matrix.
- Have a good understanding of point-cloud data for as-built model preparation.
- Have thorough understanding of tasks related to QA/QC of LOD 400-500 construction models.
- Oversee development of information management uses such as construction sequencing (4D), quantity take-offs (5D), extended reality (VR+AR).
- Support COBie, Uniclass and Masterclass implementation.
- Support the supervision of the strategic planning to produce asset information model (AIM) with the related O&M data.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's/master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and 5+ years' experience in transportation projects, minimum 2 years' experience in Middle East region.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in digital delivery of complex, multidisciplinary project (Information Management/BIM).
- Proven experience in transportation projects
- Software certification such as Revit, Navisworks, Civil3D, ArcGIS, Synchro, Fuzor etc. is desirable.
- Good knowledge of LOD 300-500 industry standard.
- Contractor's experience is advantageous with an understanding of driving project digital delivery from design, construction to handover stage.
- Demonstrable experience of working with various stakeholders (such as but not limited to contractors, consultants, PMCs, vendors and clients.
Key skill requirements:
- A good understanding of the data, information management including compliance to ISO 19650 standards.
- Sound knowledge in engineering design and in assisting engineering disciplines in with Self/Inter and Multi-disciplinary design coordination and quality compliance.
- Good knowledge of authoring tools from key software vendors such as Autodesk, Bentley, Rhino, Trimble in delivery of multi-disciplinary projects.
- Proficient knowledge of model federation and design co-ordination platforms such as Navisworks, BIM Track or Revizto for performing tasks like clash management, model walkthroughs, issue tracking and management.
- Proficient knowledge of Common Data Environment (CDE) such as ACC, BIM360, ASITE or ProjectWise.
- Good knowledge of data visualization/analytics platforms such as PowerBI.
- Knowledge of automation tools such as Dynamo is desirable.
- Knowledge of information management uses such as construction sequencing (4D), quantity take-offs (5D), extended reality (VR+AR).
- A grounded understanding of construction quality processes.
- Demonstrable ability to develop technical documentation for Information Management.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Well versed in coordination and collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Proficient in problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Must have developed Information Management documents e.g. Pre- and Post-BEP, federation strategy, Level Of Information Need, responsibility matrix etc.
- Understanding of MIDP/TIDP is a must.
