The Opportunity

The Division

The Social Science Division is home to over 80 full-time faculty, including a Nobel Laureate in Economics and a vibrant community of post-doctoral researchers in Economics, Political Science, Social Research & Public Policy, Business Organizations & Society, and Legal Studies. The Division offers five undergraduate majors as well as graduate programs. The Role

The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to contribute to the Surface Chemistry of Implants and Fabrication of Polymer Medical Devices.

The successful applicant will collaborate with faculty and researchers at CENTMED to enhance the surface chemistry of implant materials, improving biocompatibility and osteointegration. This will involve surface modification of implants through methods such as plasma treatment, silanization, and the application of specialty coatings to impart corrosion resistance. Additionally, the candidate will develop polymeric lubricious coatings for catheters to minimize injury to blood vessels during the trans-catheterization process. They will characterize the surface modifications of implants using microscopy techniques, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The candidate will also map the nanomechanical properties of implant surfaces, assessing factors such as adhesion, friction, Young s modulus, and surface free energy using AFM. The ideal candidate will bring experience in developing polymeric medical devices by identifying unmet clinical needs through interactions with clinicians, designing and developing medical devices, and fabricating medical device prototypes. Furthermore, the candidate should have experience in polymer processing techniques, including filament extrusion, compression molding, injection molding, and fused deposition modeling. This position requires the preparation of ISO/ASTM test specimens for mechanical (tensile and flexural) testing of polymers and composites using a Universal Testing Machine (UTM). The candidate will also estimate the glass transition temperature of polymers and composite materials through Dynamic Mechanical Analysis and develop osteoconductive polymeric implants for skull base surgery. Furthermore, the candidate will be involved in quantifying the adsorption of biomolecules on polymeric coatings using Quartz Crystal Microbalance with dissipation monitoring to model plaque build-up in coronary blood vessels. Other responsibilities include developing orthotic assistive devices from sustainable polymers and composites and co-developing medical devices with industry partners. The candidate will also assist in filing intellectual property rights related to medical device innovations. In addition to experimental work, the candidate will collaborate with CENTMED staff and leadership to prepare technology documentation and facilitate the translation of innovations to industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Senior Interface Engineer ensures good preparation and coordination of activities between technical and project interfaces including all project external stake holders ,sub-Contractors and third parties at the Interface Points within the battery limits of the project during the FEED stage. Ensure all interfaces are co-ordinated to perform sufficient preparations and assess all realistic problems and encourage the development solutions for interface activities such as tie-ins, pipeline routing, plot reservation, exchange of technical information etc to support smooth execution in EPC Phase .
  • Anticipation and understanding of site interface demarcations on documents such as P&IDs, Plot Plans and GAs
  • Work with all technical and project interfaces to ensure interface responsibilities are understood and potential problems identified
  • Review of FEED documentation to assess consistency in the demarcation of interfaces
  • Be a focal point for all interfaces with other internal and external project stakeholders
  • Prepare and conduct interface reviews with technical and project interfaces in critical areas
  • Issue regular interface management reports to PM and customer management
  • Be part of the day-to-day interfacing between the projects, project managers and engineering teams
  • Prepare Interface Requests and Agreements
  • Update and Maintain Interface Registers
  • Drive and co-ordinate Project Interface Meetings as required
  • Participate in key customer reviews and meetings as required
  • Participate in Project reviews

JOB PURPOSE:

Assist Coiled Tubing operation at onshore oilfields / well sites. Assist and perform all pipeline services field
activities and equipment mobilization jobs. The role is to ensure the Client's objectives are delivered safely,
without damage to the environment and in full compliance with client and ADNOC Drilling Health, Safety, and
Environment Policies.

Job Specific Accountabilities:

• Associate with Senior Operator, Coiled Tubing and perform all pipeline services field operations in a
safe and effective manner, in accordance with all ADNOC Drilling and client general and project specific
procedures.
• Ensure daily equipment maintenance checks on all Company stimulation equipment on site are
performed.
• Carry out basic maintenance of Company coiled tubing equipment where applicable and report and
faults, damage and repairs required through the correct forms in a clear and legible manner for any
activities which can't be completed in the field.
• Assist with internal training of ADNOC Drilling field personnel.
• Maintain close and better relationships with client site representatives and crew members and treat
people in a fair and respectful manner.
• Work on jobs as a team member in other services as directed while obtaining the maximum exposure
and experience in that service.
• Ensure all activities undertake are discussed in a tool box meeting, covered by procedure, adequately
risk assessed and understood by all crew members involved in the task.
• Ensure all Coiled Tubing equipment maintenance routines are carried out in a timely manner and
documented and reported to Coordinator, Coiled Tubing accordingly.
• Comply with all UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling and client Asset Integrity Management codes of
practice.
• Performs other similar or related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification:

• Completion of Secondary (12 years) education in English, Mathematics or a science subject Or High
School education and Diploma / Certificate in Coil Tubing training.
• Further education certification in either mechanical, chemical or electrical/instrument disciplines.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills:

• Mechanical and maintenance experience in fault finding and repair of equipment.
• Minimum 2 years practical mechanical exposure and as an Operator Assistant.
• Given the nature of oil field service work, must possess good interpersonal and communications skills.
• Computer awareness in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel programmes.
• Simple written and spoken English.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare Planning Package - Baseline Project Schedule, Engineering Documents Deliverables Register (EDDR), Progress Measurement System, S-Curve, Manpower Histogram, Project Calendar
  • Prepare Weekly Progress Report, Monthly Progress Reports, MIS reports
  • Prepare Planning documents for Proposals - Bid Schedule, Manpower Deployment Plan, Manpower Histogram, S Curve
  • Prepare Weekly Cost Reports based on Earned Value Management
  • Prepare EPC Implementation Schedule with Standard Productivity norms and logics
  • Prepare Organization Staffing Plans and Resource Planning
  • Analyzes project risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Update and maintain accurate updated schedule, progress statistics, S curves and prepare forecasts of trends
  • Act as a focal point for engineering discipline leads regarding scheduling and progress issues.
  • Be particularly diligent in recognizing and reporting to Project Management potential problems in all phases of the project
  • Contribute to the change management process, analyzing and reporting schedule impacts to the project
  • Understand all relevant documentation pertaining to the project including scope of services, conditions of contract, project execution plan, etc.
  • Assist management in Decision Making and Perform any other support functions as directed by the Management
