Admissions Counselor

The Admissions Counselor will connect students with the International curricula including Arabic schools, webinars, and activities to help them get the most out of the college experience. He / She will meet with students to assess their academic standing and extracurricular activities, inform them about colleges, programs, and majors, and connect them with resources that will help them get into our University. You will also conduct interviews, arrange for campus tours, conduct information sessions, and represent the college at school fairs or other recruiting or outreach initiatives. You should be committed to learning more about the students you interact with and how they may benefit from specific college courses. You should be knowledgeable, resourceful, and supportive with strong communication skills. You will call the student school database on a daily basis to shortlist those interested in joining our courses.
Responsibilities- Fixing interactive sessions with all curricula-based schools’ students/parents.
- Maintain good schools Counselors network.
- Highlighting the benefits of specific programs and courses to attract students and encourage diversity on campus.
- Scheduling campus open days and activities for school students.
- Contacting students/parents daily to brief them about our courses and their merits.
- Maximize student recruitment by following up on leads and generating more leads through database calling.
- Staying current with school admission processes and requirements, school programs, majors, courses, and developments in education and financial aid.
- Organizing recruiting events and representing schools at college fairs, high schools, and other promotional opportunities.
- Conducting student recruitment interviews, reviewing application materials, and assisting in the admissions decision-making process.
- Arranging campus tours and conducting information sessions.
- Developing and maintaining an active alumni network to plan events, help students find opportunities in their fields, and obtain funding.
- Maintaining accurate and current knowledge of educational legislation, trends, developments, and resources.
- Minimum 2-3 years UAE experience in college/university/higher education industry/Institute in admissions.
- Good in English speaking, reading, writing.
- Familiarity with college and university programs, majors, admissions requirements and processes, and scholarship and financial aid resources.
- Excellent active listening, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- UAE valid Driving license – not compulsory.
- Ability to counsel students/parents to recruit for our college academic programs.
- Flexibility to represent our college in exhibitions, school fairs, etc., out of regular working hours.
- Strong planning and people reading skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized.
- Willingness to guide others and provide ongoing support as they make important decisions.

They work with over 300 leading universities in the UK, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Eastern Europe.
As well as the head office in Dubai and an administrative office in London, our client has recruitment offices in major cities across East Africa: Nairobi, Eldoret and Mombasa in Kenya, Dar-Es-Salaam (Tanzania), Kampala (Uganda), Mauritius, and Kigali (Rwanda). Summary of Role
We are seeking an experienced Counselor (International Higher Education), who will be responsible for providing regular counseling and daily reports on international college application options. As part of a small counseling team the successful candidate will be taking responsibility for the full spectrum of student recruitment activities.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide professional level counseling on higher education opportunities available to students, parents, and professionals;
- Conduct regular research on counseling opportunities with educational institutions, parents and sponsoring bodies;
- Build relationships and assist representatives of partner colleges and universities when they are in region;
- Assist in planning and delivering events such as School Visits, Open Days, Career Fairs and others;
- Conduct presentations on universities, application and visa processes, life/study overseas, pre-departure brefiings etc.;
- Maintain and update the office supply of promotional and other marketing materials;
- Other duties as assigned.
Person Specification and Key Competencies
- University degree (U.S./U.K. study preferred);
- Verbal and written fluency in English (and Arabic preferred);
- Demonstrable knowledge of school and college education systems;
- Minimum of 2 years international HE counseling experience in the UAE
- Strong network of UAE school counselors and sponsor contacts
- High level of attention to detail and demonstrated organizational ability;
- Excellent time management, planning and implementation and computer/internet skills;
- Demonstrated commitment to international education and cultural exchange;
- Strong and confident presentation abilities;
- Strong cross-cultural and communication skills;
- Experience in planning seminars, conferences, workshops, and other public events;
- Availability for work after regular working hours and on weekends as necessary.

About the PositionThe Student Support Services Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that students at the (GSU) receive the necessary support and guidance throughout their academic journey. This role involves managing day-to-day student services, including orientation, advising, and aiding academic, emotional, and logistical challenges. The coordinator will work closely with students, faculty, and administrative staff to develop and deliver a variety of programs and initiatives that contribute to student success and well-being.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Duties:
- Carries out all duties with a high degree of accuracy, attention and confidentiality
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, support services, and outcomes
- Ensure all student service processes are followed in compliance with university policies
- Establishes, maintains and updates filing system and records
- Handles logistics of planned events, such as travel, accommodation, catering, bookings
- Assists in the preparation of lectures, seminars, and events
Student Orientation and Integration:
- Should be able to handle correspondence, such as letters, reports, memos, in both Arabic and English

- Coordinate peer support programs, mentorship initiatives, and networking events to encourage students engagement and collaboration
Cultural and Social Support:
- Provide culturally sensitive support to students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring their needs and challenges are addressed in a manner that respects and celebrates their uniqueness
- Facilitate workshops and events that raise awareness of cultural diversity and inclusion on campus
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to ensure a holistic support system for students
- Act as the liaison between students and the university administration on matters related to student services and well-being
Crisis Management:
- Provide immediate support and guidance to students in crisis situations, including health emergencies, personal challenges, or academic difficulties
- Work with relevant campus resources to coordinate appropriate responses to student crises
- Be available to respond to student emergencies and critical events outside of regular working hours, ensuring timely and effective support when needed
Required Education
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required e.g. Business Administration or Education
Professional Experience
- 5-8 years of experience in student support services, academic advising, or student affairs, preferably in a higher education environment.
- Experience in events coordination
- Experience in working in a diverse environment
- The ability to communicate in English and Arabic is essential; knowledge of national culture and traditions is highly desired
Competencies and Skills
- Knowledge of university programs and operations, including Administrative and Academic Affairs, is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with students from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- A compassionate, empathetic approach to student issues with a strong commitment to student success
- Proficient in using student management software and office productivity tools.
- Proficiency in Arabic and English is required
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Knowledge of well-being services and mental health support strategies in a university setting.
