Job Description
Follows organizational direction and meets established expectations when performing required operational duties. Conducts assessment, treatment, and transport of ill or injured patients at the Advanced Life Support (ALS) Level. Maintains ambulance readiness.
- Prioritizes tasks and ensures the effective functioning of the duty.
- Follows the chain of command in reporting incidents or concerns.
- Prioritizes workload and completes correspondence promptly.
- Ensures a safe working environment through strict compliance with American Hospital Dubai's Policy and Procedures regarding safety, infection, and security.
- Participates in mock codes and unit staff meetings (60% - 80% meetings per year)
- Directs Ambulance attendants during their shift to ensure they fulfil their job requirements per their job description.
- Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Supervises lost charges stay to a minimum on the ambulances.
- Ensures a safe working environment through strict compliance with Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS) standards.
- Conducts training at the Life Support Training Center (LSTC) on Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) programs if they have current instructor status or assist with course preparation and clearance.
- Conducts Hospital in-service training per their clinical experience.
- Supports and monitors the Resuscitation Quality Improvement Program (RQI).
- Answers phone calls politely and professionally using proper telephone etiquette.
- Adheres to the hospital policy HPP-206 "Identification of Patient."
- Ensures that the workplace and surrounding area are kept clean and organized at all times.
- Lifts an adult safely via the stretcher with assistance.
- Assembles, restocks, cleans, and maintains the ambulance, patient care equipment, and facility.
- Provides patient assessment, treatment, and transport at Advanced Life Support Level.
- Assists the Administrative Supervisor with the arrangements of patient transfers locally and internationally by ground transport.
- Ensures all Instructor certifications are kept current.
- Ensures that patient records are fully completed and kept up to American Hospital Dubai's standards.
- Conducts monthly crash cart audits throughout the American Hospital Dubai.
- Regularly reviews Automated External Defibrillator (AED) functionality and First aid equipment availability throughout American Hospital Dubai.
- Ensures the Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS) office is fully stocked and cleaned at all times.
- Directs and supports Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS) and other ambulance service providers in the transportation of patients.
- Assist Emergency patients arriving outside the Emergency Department entrance.
- Assists Emergency Department team as needed.
- Performs additional duties as required
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent post-graduate Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) experience
- Evidence of continuing education
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills required to respond to codes and other emergencies
- Basic computer literacy and basic use of the Microsoft Office suite
- Air Ambulance training preferred
- Previous Middle Eastern experience preferred
- American Heart Association Instructor Training preferred

Main Tasks and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
Essential Functions
· Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy, including neonatal, paediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
· Verifies that the assigned ambulance is mechanically sound and properly equipped at the start of a shift.
· Evaluates the nature and acuity of the illness or injury.
· Ensure that all medical and non-medical equipment is maintained, checked and serviced, including the onsite ambulance and emergency care equipment as per VMIH policies.
· Organizes patient care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team.
· Communicates information pertinent to transfer of patient. (ie; admissions, ER transfer)
· Interacts professionally with staff members, physicians, and patients.
· Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
· Demonstrates the value of team concept on a consistent basis.
· Ensures that all patient files and data collection is maintained to the highest standard while ensuring confidentiality.
· Handles inventory control of emergency drugs and disposables.
· Ensures full compliance on audits, stock control, incident and accident reporting, controlled medication reporting and onsite continued training and development.
· Prepares and submit all weekly and monthly reports shared with onsite clinic manager.
· Ensures continuous quality management throughout the clinic.
· Complete a full and comprehensive hand over to relief paramedic after every shift.
General Functions
· Operates an assigned motor vehicle; maintains cleanliness of and fuels vehicle; checks tire inflation and fluid levels; requests or schedules service and/or repairs as needed.
· Substitutes for other supervisors and/or co-workers during their temporary absence; provides guidance, training, and/or assistance to other department personnel.
· May be required to be on twenty-four-hour call as deemed necessary. · In the event of a declared state of emergency, employees in this classification may be called to work during days or hours other than those for which they are regularly scheduled. · Personally responsible for protecting paper records, computer records, and other device associated with confidential public health information or data. · Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable UAE labour laws at all times. · Participates in regular quality audits by ensuring compliance of evidence/documents at all times. · Carries out ad-hoc tasks and/or project work as directed to support the Department/Division to deliver strategy. · Required from time to time to undertake other duties of similar nature as reasonably required by the line manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in EMS/Paramedicine or Equivalent (minimum 3 years course duration)
- Must have Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS/ITLS
- Minimum of 2 years ofexperience post-registration/certification as Advanced Care Paramedic
- DOH License or Passer as Advanced CareParamedic

This 5-day programme is focused on comprehensively structuring the maintenance management environment. The key elements of maintenance management strategy, organisation, maintenance programme development, work planning and control, decision models, maintenance auditing and performance measurement, continuous improvement, and other techniques required to implement a world-class maintenance practice will be covered.
