The Licensed Aircraft Engineer is responsible performs all required maintenance activities and certifications in accordance with EY authorization policy. To supervise Aircraft Technicians in all aspects of maintenance carried out on aircraft(s) ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and relevant technical data to optimize serviceability of aircraft(s) and support operational schedules.

Accountabilities
  • Certifies own work and work of others after having verified task has been performed in accordance with approved data within the scope of authorisation.
  • Completes all paperwork in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with current company procedures.
  • Carries out maintenance work in compliance with company, health and safety and airport procedures and regulations.
  • Ensures that the aircraft effectivity is correct and that the latest revision is being referenced, prior to the use of approved maintenance data.
  • Assures that all material, parts tools, equipment and documentation is prepared at the beginning of the shift.
  • Assures assigned aircraft are met on arrival and departed by an engineer.
  • Ensures that the area around an aircraft for which Etihad Airways is responsible are clear of the hazards associated with Foreign Object Damage (FOD).
  • Coordinates his/her maintenance activities on his/her assigned aircraft.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to team members to ensure safe and effective working practices.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of station facilities.
  • Ensures equipment and premises utilised by maintenance staff in a serviceable, clean and safe condition.
  • Behaves in a manner which reflects a professional approach when dealing with customers.
  • Accepts appropriate training that will enable a more effective contribution.
  • Wears equipment provided by the company for health and safety reasons, and to promote the company corporate image, as appropriate.
  • Performs inspections as required on GSE and completes the form Ground Support Equipment Checklist - AUH EY
  • Performs daily inspection of company vehicle before use and completes the form Vehicle Maintenance Inspection
  • Ensures that all work performed at Etihad and completed in accordance with its processes and procedures is done in a safe manner.
  • Familiar with, enforce and follow the procedures stipulated in the Safety & Quality Management Manual (SQMM) and become an active participant in the workplace safety program.
  • Encourages colleagues by being actively involved in the promotion of a positive reporting culture.
Education & Experience
  • High School leaving Certificate /Diploma /Education to university/college degree.
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license (GCAA/EASA 66/ICAO Type convertible to GCAA ) with 2 Etihad aircraft types (787/ 777/320/350/380)(level 3) with one of which must be A350 or A380 and company Authorization
  • Must have a minimum of 7 - 10 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance of which 3 years is in a Line/ Light Maintenance environment.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and attitude to work as one team with safety and quality mindset.

Ensure maintenance tasks and certification of Royal Jet aircraft during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance inputs including “A” checks, “C” checks, Line maintenance checks, trouble shooting, defect rectification, components removal/installation, routine servicing, pre-departure/post arrival checks and standard Aircraft system checks are carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality and serviceability, in accordance with the correct and currently revised maintenance manuals and technical instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure appropriate applications of certification privileges in accordance with the limitations of Company and Local Regulatory Authorizations

  • Supervision of Maintenance staff, allocated to him by the Duty Supervisor, to ensure safe and on time dispatch of aircraft under his control

  • Accompany aircraft when away from base as Licensed Aircraft Engineer

  • Ensure that the organisation’s approach to data protection, security and retention complies with best practice and that policies and procedures are effectively implemented.

  • To develop, continuously improve and implement the organisations approach to risk management

  • Monitors ADD’s and all other defects on Royal Jet Fleet and arrange for its rectification, including arranging of spares and tooling at the earliest opportunity.

  • Monitor closely of operational problems related to the fleet, including significant occurrences/incidents, relevant SB’s/SL’s/SIL’s

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspection, maintenance, modification, and defect rectification, carrying out all maintenance in accordance with the laid down procedures and ensuring all safety precautions are observed

  • Ensure and perform all maintenance and due items called up by Fleet Planner and MCC Controller in a timely manner

  • Provide information to Duty Supervisor on the serviceability status of the aircraft.

  • Advise Duty Supervisor of any impending service disruptions, problems or areas of concern that may have an impact on the operating program. Keeping the Duty Supervisor informed of all his work performed during his duty period.

  • Ensure staff under his immediate control adheres to published technical and safety requirements defined in MOE and PPM.

  • Define priorities to the staff allocated to him to ensure that efficient use of resources are directed to an on time and safe flight departure.

  • Ensure documentation and certification, are completed in a timely manner and to the defined procedures to meet Royal Jet requirements.

  • Comply with Royal Jet MOE and PPM when working on aircraft and adhere to the procedure to ensure aircraft is released to service in accordance with local authority and other civil authority requirement.

  • Contribute as part of the team when away from base, duties including acting as a focal point on technical matters, performing the duties of an “able bodied person” during an emergency situation and supervise cargo loading in the absence of a loadmaster on a flight.

  • Monitor modification status of the aircraft he is authorized on, including Technical Notices, Quality Directives, and MOE & PPM. Carry out research and inquiries with Technical Records & Engineering, computer system and read all relevant documents, instructions, and manuals thus keeping current of all technical, procedural, and regulatory developments.

**Position Summary**
Overall job purpose is to carry out maintenance tasks on an aircraft in accordance with Jet Aviation procedures, authority regulations and customer requirements.
**Main Responsibilities**
Quality, Safety and Environment
- Ensure maintenance performed on aircraft systems is conducted in compliance with company policies and procedures
- Certification of work and release of aircraft systems complies with relevant Licence Categories
- Actively participate and comply with JAAS WH&S and Environment programs and Aviation Safety Management System
People Leadership
- Operational management of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (Fitters) providing clear directions for allocated maintenance
Commercial Management
- Daily management and control of assigned aircraft maintenance
- Responsible for the adequate allocation of resources available for timely completion of assigned aircraft systems modification, maintenance, repair or installation
- Ensure parts are ordered at correct timeframe to meet project or job deadlines whilst maintaining appropriate cost structure
- Review job packs for assigned projects or jobs and ensure they are complete and reflect customer requirements
- Review daily reporting on estimated versus actual hours and take action as directed to correct or prevent over runs
- Using the company ERP to ensure time and attendance is correlated with projects
Sales and Customer Management
- Provide regular feedback to the Director of Maintenance on the progress of planned system modification, maintenance, service or installation
- Provide input into response to customer queries and complaints
**Main Responsibilities Cont.**
Regulatory and Compliance
- Ensure maintenance performed on assigned aircraft system is conducted in compliance with the relevant Civil Aviation regulations, Military or OEM requirements
- Accountable for updating own knowledge on regulatory requirements
Further tasks
- Actively support and participate in the JAAS Core Values and Safety, Security and Environment policies and procedures as detailed in the JAAS Governance and Polices Manual.
- Ensure smooth workflow on assigned jobs with minimal disruptions by effective use of allocated manpower and resources
- Aircraft work packs and logbook entries are completed in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements
- Ensure assigned modification, maintenance, repair or installation performed is carried out in compliance with company policies and procedures and relevant Civil Aviation Regulations
- ASRs (Over & Above defects) are raised at time of identification of additional work and are accurate
- Track progress of work to ensure budgetary control is maintained.
- Provide directions to AMEs and Technicians to assist them to meet budgets and customer delivery schedules.
- Implement remedial action to correct project or job overruns
- Provide input into parts ordering for assigned projects to ensure parts are available to meet scheduled delivery times.
- Regular audit of project documentation to ensure accuracy and integrity of data.
- Provide technical input into customer queries and/or complaints.
**Minimum Requirements**
Hold an unrestricted GCAA license with B412 endorsement. (Preference will be given to candidates additionally holding CASA & EASA)
- Strong knowledge of CAR 145
- Recent B412 5-year inspection experience.
- Experience working in an aircraft maintenance facility performing system maintenance and modifications
- Able to run several projects at once
- General Aviation Installation and Design experience
- Demonstrated understanding of Aviation regulatory requirements for Aircraft systems maintenance
- People Management skills in an operational environment
- Experience in a customer focused work environment with multiple priorities and project deadlines
- Computer literate at basic level in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems
