Our mission is to reinvent the way companies manage their open source information systems - on public clouds and in their own data centres. To achieve that we are building a new community around Python opscode for open source applications, running on Kubernetes. We want to move all of Canonical and Ubuntu IS onto this new, open source codebase. We are confident that we can dramatically improve the experience of running complex business operations - and then we can help our customers embrace those new techniques and products.
This role is ideal for software engineers who enjoy Python, have a passion for distributed systems, and an interest in the entire Linux stack - from kernel to networking to virtualization and containers. It is a role that requires rigour in both code and customer interactions. Our engineers are technically astute open source enthusiasts who are excited about cloud computing and are ready to join a global team charged with delivering world class services to our customers. Strong Python development skills and familiarity with Kubernetes are key requirements of this role. You'll work closely with other teams in Canonical to ensure your products operate reliably, efficiently and scale to production sized workloads for our customers looking to adopt cutting-edge technology.
You will participate and be responsible for ensuring sound software architecture and follow best practices in software quality, testing and documentation.

Work in Python to design and deliver open source software operations code
Work across the entire Linux stack, from kernel, networking, storage, to applications

We’re seeking a Software Engineer specialized in NVIDIA technology to lead the development and optimization of CASABOT’s next-generation Edge OS , running on NVIDIA Jetson and other embedded GPU platforms.
You’ll work at the intersection of AI, embedded systems, and operating system design , ensuring BOTty™ delivers ultra-low latency, privacy-first intelligence without relying on the cloud.
This is a hands-on systems engineering role at the crossroads of AI inference, OS design, and embedded GPU computing.
Architect, develop, and optimize CASABOT’s Edge OS stack for NVIDIA Jetson Orin, Xavier, and Nano platforms.
Design and implement GPU-accelerated modules for real-time inference, local NLU, and computer vision pipelines.
Integrate CUDA , TensorRT , and DeepStream SDK components into CASABOT’s OS environment.
Build custom Linux kernel configurations , drivers , and device tree overlays for edge performance optimization.
Work closely with AI, DevOps, and hardware teams to streamline deployment across BOTty™ gateway models (CB-Lite, CB-100, CB-Ultra II).
Implement OTA update systems , containerized edge apps , and secure boot pipelines on NVIDIA SoC architectures.
Conduct profiling, benchmarking, and tuning for latency, power efficiency, and reliability .
Collaborate with AI engineers to deploy optimized models (ONNX/TF/LLM-quantized) for real-time inference on-device.
Contribute to system-level design, ensuring compliance, reproducibility, and maintainability of the OS stack.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
2-5 years experience in embedded software or Linux based OS development.
Proven hands-on expertise with NVIDIA Jetson , CUDA , TensorRT , and DeepStream SDK .
Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals , Yocto , or Buildroot for OS builds.
Experience with C/C++ , Python , and Bash .
Familiarity with edge AI workflows (model quantization, pruning, and deployment).
Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Podman) and OTA update frameworks for embedded devices.
Strong debugging and profiling skills (Nsight Systems, perf, valgrind, etc.).
Passion for performance optimization and edge computing architectures.
Experience with ROS/ROS2 , ZeroMQ , or gRPC for distributed edge communications.
Familiarity with hardware accelerators , multi-camera streaming , or AR/VR pipelines .
Contributions to open-source OS or driver projects (Yocto, JetPack, etc.).
Prior work in AI-powered home automation, robotics, or IoT ecosystems .
Work on the frontier of AI at the Edge and autonomous living environments .
