Based at the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Food & Beverage Department, The Bar Back is responsible for assisting the team in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the restaurant, providing a prompt and professional service to the guests, and be responsible for creating a memorable dining experience within the restaurant. The Bar Back reports to the Bar Manager.
As Bar Back, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Set-up the bar, including but not limited to: daily cleaning of all bar areas, equipment, dishwasher, stock up fridges and stations, prepare mise en place prior the start of each shift.
- Assist with stock count and, at all times, ensuring the restaurant has adequate supplies for the shift, including all crockery, glassware, cutlery, condiments, fresh fruit and herbs, etc.
- During service, prepare hot drinks to the required standard, clean coffee machine and all hot drink equipment, replenish stations when required and wash utensils, glassware and crockery after each use.
- Ensure the stations and the bar area are of utmost cleanliness throughout service.
- Assist in setting up the bar for any special or private events as per briefing.
- Etiquette with guests: Refer to all guests as 'Sir' or 'Madam,' always allow a guest right of way, assist guests with requests, when serving food and beverage ladies must be served first, if you are not able to assist a guest with their query ensure the guest is attended to by a Head Bartender or Manager.
- Alert the Head Bartender or Manager of any spillages, challenging guests, intruders in the restaurant / building, etc.
- Attend to bar guests at all times, regularly providing feedback to Managers, ensuring every guest has received the brand experience and immediately inform Managers should a guest not be content with their dining experience.
- Take the initiative to study and learn all menus and attend food and beverage training to understand the ingredients and cooking/creation method of each dish/beverage to be able to describe these to the guest when required.
- Provide a courteous, professional, attentive, and efficient service at all times with customers, staff and suppliers alike.
- Be fully conversant with the geographical layout of the operation and to know the exact whereabouts of all equipment of an operational nature.
- Have a complete understanding of the restaurant operation, and respond to any changes in the restaurant function as requested by the Manager.
- Attend and contribute to all staff briefings/meetings and other related activities.
- Support new recruits through on the job training.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, and as per the personal presentation policy, and report for duty punctually, wearing the appropriate attire.
- Undertake and carry out any other reasonable roles and responsibilities as requested by the Manager.
- Be vigilant and take responsibility for the security of the restaurant premises and properties.

- Previous experience working as bar back in a luxury hotel, resort experience will be a plus
- Fluent proficiency in English and excellent communication skills. Additional languages will be an advantage

Role Purpose
- Work on multiple systems, processes and workflows to accomplish business needs
- Enrol, endorse or renew members end to end by verifying multiple required documents, and take appropriate decisions day-to-day on members' eligibility, fines calculation, coverage period, etc.
- Register and process application, issue policy, create members and generate invoices and export information to produce deliverables like cards, certificate, statements etc.
- Ensure quality and compliance standards as per the regulatory guidelines defined for various types of business scenarios such as Individual basic, Small investors, Aounak, Domestic helpers sponsored by UAE nationals/expats, Employer-employee relationship, MOL list, WPS for salary proofs, corporate groups and brokers etc.
- Meet and exceed daily, weekly, monthly productivity and TAT targets, monthly quality targets, attend and complete monthly quiz with good score
- Understand and apply checklists and guidelines provided to achieve quality targets in daily activities. Rectify data and process gaps observed and curb repeated errors
- Receive and respond to phone/emails from customers/brokers on time within TAT and ensure quality communication to internal and external customers
- Handle customer queries by providing accurate, valid and complete information by using the right methods and tools and follow up until the issue is resolved

Key Requirements And Qualifications
- Experience in any administrative job preferably in insurance industry is a plus
- Minimum of high school degree
- Diploma or higher degree in any field is preferred

About the job
Based at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Food & Beverage Department, the Bar Back is responsible for assisting the team in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the restaurant, providing a prompt and professional service to the guests, and being responsible for creating a memorable dining experience within the restaurant. The Bar Back reports to the Bar Manager.
As Bar Back, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Set-up the bar, including but not limited to: daily cleaning of all bar areas, equipment, dishwasher, stock up fridges and stations, prepare mise en place prior the start of each shift.
- Assist with stock count and, at all times, ensuring the restaurant has adequate supplies for the shift, including all crockery, glassware, cutlery, condiments, fresh fruit and herbs, etc.
- During service, prepare hot drinks to the required standard, clean coffee machine and all hot drink equipment, replenish stations when required and wash utensils, glassware and crockery after each use.
- Ensure the stations and the bar area are of utmost cleanliness throughout service.
- Assist in setting up the bar for any special or private events as per briefing.
- Etiquette with guests: Refer to all guests as 'Sir' or 'Madam,' always allow a guest right of way, assist guests with requests, when serving food and beverage ladies must be served first, if you are not able to assist a guest with their query ensure the guest is attended to by a Head Bartender or Manager.
- Alert the Head Bartender or Manager of any spillages, challenging guests, intruders in the restaurant / building, etc.
- Attend to bar guests at all times, regularly providing feedback to Managers, ensuring every guest has received the brand experience and immediately inform Managers should a guest not be content with their dining experience.
- Take the initiative to study and learn all menus and attend food and beverage training to understand the ingredients and cooking/creation method of each dish/beverage to be able to describe these to the guest when required.
- Provide a courteous, professional, attentive, and efficient service at all times with customers, staff and suppliers alike.
- Be fully conversant with the geographical layout of the operation and to know the exact whereabouts of all equipment of an operational nature.
- Have a complete understanding of the restaurant operation, and respond to any changes in the restaurant function as requested by the Manager.
- Attend and contribute to all staff briefings/meetings and other related activities.
- Support new recruits through on the job training.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, and as per the personal presentation policy, and report for duty punctually, wearing the appropriate attire.
- Undertake and carry out any other reasonable roles and responsibilities as requested by the Manager.
- Be vigilant and take responsibility for the security of the restaurant premises and properties.
As Bar Back, we expect from you:
- Previous experience working as bar back in a luxury hotel, resort experience will be a plus
- Fluent proficiency in English and excellent communication skills. Additional languages will be an advantage
- Able to multi-task and work under pressure in the busy operations
