A teacher assistant supports the teacher of the class in educating children. An assistant basically handles tasks that free the teacher to focus on the learning agenda for the day. They are responsible for human support and paraprofessional work assisting the teacher with instructional activities and assisting students by reinforcing material already presented through special efforts and repetitions. Assisting teachers in managing, organizing and coordinating all tasks related to the respective section.
Key qualities and skills:- General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in classroom teaching
- Ability to deal effectively with students and teachers
- Skilled in the use of classroom and instructional equipment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, and students
- Important Skills: Enthusiasm, imagination, energy, adaptability, patience and responsibility
The Teacher Assistant must undertake various tasks, including:
- Organize, prepare and pass out project materials, setting up audio equipment and track attendance
- Maintain classroom supplies and help children retrieve materials, clean-up workspaces and gather belongings
- Collect and display suitable material for educational displays and decorate classrooms and corridors
- Supervise snack and other related duties
- Assist the classroom teacher and accept all duties assigned in support of teaching and learning
- Perform a variety of office assistance tasks such as photocopying, filing, answering the telephone, etc. as required
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
- Ensure that all the necessary health and safety rules and procedures are in the classrooms
- Maintain an awareness of all the health and safety measures to be taken when in school
- Ensure all students are seated and belted during their travel in the school bus
- Assist in handing over the student to an authorized adult when dropping them home
- Monitor students and maintain order on the bus
- Ensure the safety of each student at all times
- Check the attendance of the students registered on the bus
- Inform the teacher/parent about any absences
- Ensure that all the seats are empty and all students left the bus at the end of each trip.
Education: a minimum of high school diploma
Experience: 2 years experience working as a teacher assistant or in any relevant role.

- Inform transport manager for any safeguarding issues e.g., no authorized adult at collection point

- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure bus safety and functionality.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including those with special needs.
- Collect fares and validate tickets as required.
- Maintain a clean and presentable bus interior at all times.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, providing route information and addressing inquiries.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or vehicle maintenance issues promptly.
- Adapt to various traffic and weather conditions typical of Dubai.
- A valid heavy vehicle driver's license.
- A clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience driving heavy buses or similar large vehicles.
- Excellent driving skills and thorough knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
- Proficiency in route planning and navigation.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on passenger satisfaction.
- Effective time management and punctuality.
- Clear communication skills in English (additional languages are an asset).
