CAD Draftsman

Abu Dhabi, UAE

What You'll Be Doing:

• Performs well-defined field engineering assignments primarily involving constructability reviews and the observation of work in progress.

• Maintains first-level quality assurance to confirm that the installation of all work within his/her discipline is in accordance with the plans, specifications, and industry standards

• Assists construction personnel with general technical details.

• Provides schedule and progress appraisal data to the Area Engineer or Construction Manager

• Ensures that tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented in accordance with approved procedures

• Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline

As the BIM/CAD Technician, you will assist in creating lighting drawings, BIM models, and technical documentation. You will work alongside designers and project managers to convert lighting ideas into precise and coordinated drawing sets for both design and construction.

This position is crucial in maintaining the clarity, quality, and consistency of our studio's documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience in the lighting or Electrical industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain accurate lighting plans, sections, details, and schedules using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Develop and manage Revit families for lighting fixtures and controls in coordination with design teams.
• Assist with updating project documentation across design phases (SD, DD, CD).

2. BIMCoordination

• Collaborate with architects and consultants to coordinate models and integrate lighting layouts into BIM workflows.
• Participate in clash detection, model audits, and updates based on coordination meetings.
• Manage file organization and version control within BIM360 or other project platforms.

3. Technical Support

• Assist in the creation of lighting documentation packages, including fixture specifications and control diagrams.
• Support lighting calculations or visualizations (with tools like DIALux).
• Work closely with project managers to meet deadlines and quality standards.

We'd love to hear from you if you have skills in:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, or related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience in a drafting or BIM technician role, preferably in architecture, interior, or lighting design environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential), Revit / BIM360 (strongly preferred) and Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat
• Familiarity with lighting terminology, electrical plans, and architectural coordination.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Good time management and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
• Basic understanding of lighting design principles is a plus.
• Experience with DIALux, Relux, or AGi32 is a bonus but not required.

• Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.

• Utilizes technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with codes and company policies.

• Becomes familiar with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.

• Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.

• Understands how to read orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and supplier/manufacturer drawings.

• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering from an accredited institution.

• Minimum five years demonstrable experience in the drafting experience on infrastructure projects.

• Must have experience on the use of computer aided drafting software, such as AutoCAD.AutoCAD Civil 3D.

The CAD Designer is responsible for preparing and maintaining engineering or sustaining project design layouts, production drawings, and other related documentation per ANSI/Schlumberger standards, considering methods of manufacture and tolerances and their effects on related parts or assemblies.

• Function as a design engineer for routine corrections.

• Prepare average complexity original mechanical layouts using the CAD system.

• Depending on seniority, use the CAD system to prepare and maintain high-complexity mechanical and average-complexity electrical and electronic product and production drawings from layouts, sketches, or verbal instructions.

• Ensure accuracy of assignments, except for design features that are the responsibility of the project engineer.

• Understand ANSI/Schlumberger drafting methods, standards, and procedures.

• Understand Schlumberger manufacturing processes and techniques, and interpret ANSI/Schlumberger standards and procedures.

• Possess basic knowledge of the mechanical product line, and depending on seniority, partial to comprehensive knowledge of electrical and electronic product lines.
