This role is based within one of the UAE's largest government-affiliated healthcare networks, renowned for its patient-centered approach and specialized pediatric care services. The Child Life Therapist will play a vital role in supporting children and their families as they cope with hospitalization, illness, and medical procedures by providing emotional support, therapeutic play, and age-appropriate education.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide counseling and psychosocial support to patients and families dealing with medical, emotional, and social challenges.
- Assess patients' social, emotional, and financial needs and develop appropriate care plans.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, healthcare providers, and community resources.
- Support families in coping with long-term illnesses, rehabilitation, and end-of-life care.
- Assist in discharge planning and coordinate post-hospitalization services.
- Advocate for patients' rights, ensuring they receive adequate support and resources.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and referrals.
- Conduct awareness and educational sessions as part of holistic healthcare delivery.
- Adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity at all times.
Requirements to be considered include:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Child Life, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
- Certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Valid UAE healthcare professional license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a pediatric hospital or clinical setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and pediatric psychosocial care.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care to children and families.
