As a Graduate Project Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting all commercial activities throughout the pre and post contract phases of construction projects.
**Responsibilities & Duties:**
+ Assisting Quantity Surveying staff for Assets (Buildings Team) on both pre-contract and post-contract deliverables.
+ Undertakes responsibilities under the supervision of a more senior Project Surveyor
+ Completes the measurement of quantities for input into cost plans, cost estimates and bills of quantities
+ Assists with the preparation of tender documentation
+ Assists with viability studies and cost estimates
+ Assists with implementing, maintaining and monitoring cost control procedures throughout the duration of a project
+ Assists with providing necessary input related to financial claims
+ Assists with evaluating variations, additions and omissions, etc, and incorporating these into monthly cost reports
+ Assists with preparing, pricing and negotiating change orders with clients and contractors
+ Market tests rates and analyses tender returns for input into rates databases and estimates
+ Assists with upkeep of the technical library, including cost data, benchmarks and maintenance of the various asset databases used for life cycle cost analysis and operational cost estimates.
+ Assists with report formatting, data management and quality assurance procedures across all core service lines.
+ Undertakes primary research according to project requirements under the supervision.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements**
1. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University
2. Candidates must be recent 2024 or 2025 graduates to be eligible for AECOM's Graduate Program.
3. Successful applicants must have achieved a minimum GPA of 2.8 (or equivalent) and above.
4. **As part of AECOM's commitment to Emiratisation and in compliance with UAE labour law, only UAE Nationals with a family book will be considered for this role.**

Job Description
AECOM are currently a Structural Engineer, to join our Building Engineering team, in Abu Dhabi. The Structural Engineer will be at the forefront of creating elegant, efficient, and sustainable designs for a diverse range of projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, contractors, and clients, to deliver structures that meet and exceed expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop structural designs and detailed engineering calculations for buildings, bridges, and other structures.
- Use advanced analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD, Rhino) and Grasshopper) to model and optimize designs.
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports in collaboration with CAD technicians and BIM specialists.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and structural investigations.
- Ensure designs comply with local building codes, standards, and sustainability goals.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to achieve project goals.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to meet client expectations.
- Attend design and site meetings to monitor progress and resolve technical challenges.
- Utilize advanced structural analysis software to model and simulate different design scenarios.
- Design structural elements such as beams, columns, and foundations to withstand loads and stresses.
- Optimize designs to achieve maximum efficiency while adhering to safety codes and standards.
- Work with architects and clients to develop innovative and sustainable design concepts.
- Create initial sketches and prototypes to explore design possibilities and technical solutions.
- Incorporate cutting-edge materials and construction techniques into design proposals.
- Minimum 8 years post-undergraduate experience or minimum 6 years post-undergraduate experience if chartered
- Experience in residential, high rise or hospitality projects
- B. Sc or BEng in Civil / Structural Engineering, International Accreditation preferred (MIstructE or equivalent).
- Local Authority Engineer registration preferred.

About the RoleThe Structural Design Engineer for Steel Structures will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction process of projects. This individual will focus on ensuring the structural design is safe, functional, and efficient, aligning with the client's objectives.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Conducting technical assessments and structural analysis to propose optimal solutions.
- Preparing structural calculation models using engineering software, along with design calculations and technical specifications.
- Engaging in value engineering of projects.
- Making decisions related to design issues.
- Providing design input and advice to the Project Manager/Engineer and coordinating technical matters.
- Reporting work progress to the Department Manager.
- Collaborating with Project Consultant Engineers and the Resident Engineer.
- Coordinating with other designers, engineers, and architects to produce optimized designs.
- Working with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions and analyze soil investigation results.
- Assessing existing structures for structural flaws and advising on improvements.
- Reviewing contract specifications, B.O.Q., and drawings for technical accuracy and clarification.
- Participating in design-related meetings.
- Supervising drafting teams for timely preparation of shop drawings and submittals.
- Coordinating with Procurement, Suppliers, and Subcontractors regarding material suitability and availability.
- Degree in Structural Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in Steel Structure Engineering.
- Familiarity with Infrastructural, Industrial, Special, and High-End Steel Structures.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as Midas, SAP2000, Staad Pro, IDEA StatiCa, Revit, AutoCAD, and RFEM (advantageous).
- Strong understanding of engineering practices, standards, and guidelines, including Eurocodes, US, and British standards.
- Self-driven team player with good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Proficient in MS Office and computer skills; programming experience is a plus.
- Valid driving license.
- Reports to the Design Engineering Department Manager.
