Position- Design and engineer combustor hardware—including burners, combustion chambers, and fuel distribution systems (FDS)—for Ansaldo’s heavy‑duty gas turbines.
- Stress analysis of combustor parts using FE methods.
- Release of design and manufacturing documentation (drawings, 3D CAD models, product structures and part lists etc.).
- Perform feasibility studies of design to cost solutions.
- Interface to Gas Turbine Integration, Compressor and Turbine departments for design integration tasks.
- Develop and maintain interfaces to other engineering teams, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and external suppliers of combustor design services.
- University degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with focus on turbomachinery, aerospace, process technology, mechatronics, or energy technology.
- Ability to work in distributed, multi-disciplinary teams, with complex interfaces.
- Skills in Root‑Cause‑Analysis and structured problem‑solving methods, such as 8D.
- Knowledge in using 3D CAD and FE analysis tools; experience with NX12 and Ansys Workbench is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to power plants, construction sites, Ansaldo factory in Genoa (Italy) or to suppliers; typically, 2 to 3 days a month.
- Excellent command of English, German is an advantage, further knowledge of Italian would be an asset.

Overview Of The Role:
- The Senior Design Manager role focuses on design management tasks for multiple complex projects, including atypical projects, within the Design department. Responsibilities encompass managing consultants and stakeholders, technical evaluations of design quality, engineering systems, statutory considerations, constructability, and deliverables completeness. The role also involves leading internal design studies and research, supporting market research, and assisting in development strategy definition. The Senior Design Manager is indirectly responsible for the financial performance of development projects and plays a pivotal role in achieving informed executive decisions through detailed design briefings and presentations.
What You Will Do:
Design Management- Define the Design Brief, including physical characteristics, location, context, and key design objectives.
- Create detailed design briefs incorporating product objectives, project descriptions, and relevant background information.
- Coordinate with the Project Management department on infrastructure, engineering, delivery, and statutory considerations.
- Guide projects through various stages from design vision to tender documentation and provide advisory support.
- Define timeframes, design aspirations, and documentation requirements with consultants through meetings and workshops.
- Lead reviews for compliance with development objectives, costs, user experience, functionality, and aesthetics.
- Conduct comprehensive technical reviews on design criteria, performance, engineering, systems, and statutory issues.
- Prepare detailed commentary on design deliverables for executive presentations, including visualizations and diagrams.
- Assess design change implications on time, cost, and quality, and make recommendations.
- Ensure the approval of projects throughout pre-contract stages concerning design and financial feasibility.
- Resolve conflicting feedback in the best interest of the company and explain rationale to concerned parties.
- Secure statutory approvals via consultants and coordinate with statutory authority liaison.
- Develop marketing collateral for project launches, including unit plans, lease drawings, and renderings.
- Lead research on city design topics such as smart city technologies and sustainability.
- Research product design topics including smart living technologies and urban farming.
- Develop and refine departmental processes, guidelines, standards, and templates for design.
- Support market and economic analysis related to new product types and positioning strategies.
- Advise on development potential considering site, context, and regulations.
- Advise on aspects of development briefs, including project positioning and statistics.
- Conduct independent cost analysis and coordinate with Commercial department for benchmarks.
- Support return on investment calculations for various product design considerations.
- Manage project schedules and progress reporting for executive leadership review.
- Lead contract and commercial management, ensuring completeness of submissions and evaluations.
- Define procurement strategy and manage the pre-qualification and assessment of consultants.
- Prepares all relevant RFP documents including scopes of work, services, and schedules.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Advanced skills in architecture and interior design, including graphics and presentations.
- Proficiency in MEP systems, structural engineering, and civil works.
- Ability to prepare clear and compelling executive presentations.
- Expertise in CAD, BIM, Primavera, or Microsoft Project.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in design and management roles, mainly with leading developers or consultancy firms.
- In-depth experience managing residential and commercial design projects, with hospitality projects as a plus.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
- Advanced knowledge in building technical requirements, including structural, MEP systems, and statutory authorities.
- Proficiency in graphic and presentation skills, including Adobe Suite and CAD.

- Project Coordination & Collaboration: Collaborate with architects, MEP teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that interior design elements integrate smoothly with the overall project design. Lead coordination meetings with internal teams and external consultants to resolve design challenges and ensure alignment with luxury standards. Manage the interface between interior design and other disciplines, ensuring consistency and cohesion across all project elements.
- Luxury Interior Execution: Oversee the selection and specification of high-end materials, finishes, fixtures, and custom furnishings, ensuring they align with the luxury project’s design narrative. Ensure that all interior spaces reflect the unique luxury aesthetics required for each project, balancing functionality and elegance. Review detailed interior design documentation, drawings, and specifications, ensuring precision and adherence to luxury standards.
- Quality Control & Design Integrity: Implement robust quality control processes to ensure that all interior design elements meet the highest luxury and craftsmanship standards. Regularly review design deliverables, ensuring they comply with the client’s vision, international building codes, and local regulations. Ensure design integrity is maintained throughout construction and fit-out, coordinating closely with contractors and on-site teams to resolve any design-related issues.
- Client Engagement & Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on all interior design matters, understanding their expectations and ensuring the design exceeds them. Present interior design concepts, mood boards, material selections, and progress updates to clients, incorporating their feedback while maintaining the integrity of the luxury design vision. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring ongoing collaboration and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Budget & Schedule Management: Work closely with the project management team to ensure that the interior design aligns with the overall project budget and schedule, without compromising luxury quality. Prepare and review cost estimates for interior design elements, ensuring selections align with project budgets and financial objectives. Monitor procurement and delivery of materials, furniture, and finishes to ensure timely completion in line with project milestones.
- Sustainability & Innovation: Integrate sustainable and innovative design practices into luxury interiors, ensuring environmentally responsible solutions without sacrificing aesthetics. Stay updated with global trends in luxury interior design, ensuring the latest innovations and technologies are incorporated into project designs.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- A minimum of 20 years of experience in interior design management, with at least 10 years focused on luxury projects.
- Extensive international experience managing large-scale, high-end luxury residential, commercial, or hospitality projects.
- Strong background working with high-profile clients and delivering interior designs of the highest standards in international markets.
- Proficiency in interior design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other visualization tools.
- Strong knowledge of luxury materials, finishes, and bespoke furnishings, including international sourcing and procurement.
- Deep understanding of local and international building codes, sustainability practices, and luxury design standards.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and mentoring abilities, with experience leading multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with high-profile clients and senior stakeholders effectively.
- A keen eye for detail, with a deep understanding of luxury design aesthetics, craftsmanship, and quality.
- Professional certification or licensure in Interior Design (e.g., NCIDQ, ASID).
- Experience working in a PMC or consultancy environment.
- Familiarity with global luxury brands and working with high-end residential, hospitality, or commercial clients.
