The role requires an experienced lawyer who is able to work to a high standard and accept a high degree of responsibility in leading matters and maintaining client contact.
Requirements :
- Excellent academic background
- 4 to 6 years PQE
- Insurance experience from a top-tier law firm
- Qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales (although candidates with experience in certain other jurisdictions will also be considered)
- Proactive and self-starting individual
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A flexible approach to work and be open to working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Client facing experience is preferable
- Experience of taking a lead associate role on matters, together with responsibility for supervision of more junior team members

Perform detailed calculations and assessments in various insurance domains such as business interruption, life insurance, and other insurance-related matters.
Draft decisions for the committee, ensuring each decision complies with the Civil Transactions Law, Commercial Law, Civil Procedure Law, Evidence Law, and foundational Insurance Principles.
Address and counter legal defences presented by dispute parties, utilizing legal appeals and principles to support comprehensive and balanced responses.
Conduct in-depth studies and analyses of disputes, including the review of responsive, commentary, and closing memorandums to ensure a thorough understanding and effective resolution process.
Evaluate expert reports across different domains including vehicles, fire incidents, health issues, investment, and life insurance, recommending amendments or accepting findings in line with general insurance principles.

Summary
A career in tax dispute resolution will provide you with the opportunity to help clients prevent, manage and resolve tax disputes with tax authorities.
The team has extensive experience working with tax authorities regionally and globally, with a thorough understanding of tax audit approach, tax assessment methodology and penalty regime application. Our team assists clients through various interactions with tax authorities, from filing tax clarification requests during tax audits up to filing objections or appeals.
You'll support clients with all aspects of audit readiness, voluntary disclosure and clarification requests, assistance during tax audits and formalities of drafting and submitting reconsideration and appeal letters to relevant authorities.
Main Responsibilities
- Knowledge about tax litigation systems and underlying procedures in the GCC, mainly the UAE.
- Adequate understanding of UAE tax administrative penalties and their application in different scenarios.
- Hands-on experience guiding clients to understand their rights, available options for tax litigation and processes involved for resolving disputes.
- Assisting clients throughout the appeal process from preparing reconsideration/waiver letters to tax authorities and appeals to committees and courts, both in Arabic and English.
- Experience dealing with legal counsels and coordinating with them throughout the appeal process with committees and courts is a plus.
- Advising clients on tax controversy service offerings and ability to develop client relationships and drive new business opportunities.
- Providing high-quality service deliverables while maintaining budgetary and time constraints.
