HSE Engineer (Consultancy)

Job Description
Our Global Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant QHSE Engineer to join their team in Abu Dhabi, on a to work on new projects in the Emirate. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a consultant QHSE Engineer on construction and fit out projects in the UAE or the wider GCC region and will have worked for a recognised engineering consultancy or PMC company previously. This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 3 month contract position employed as outsourced staff through J10 Consulting. Key Responsibilities: • Implement the health, safety and environmental arrangements for the project against the QHSE Management System requirements, to ensure the protection of all staff. • Lead HSE Inspectors to ensure they are monitoring the implementation of health and safety arrangements at project site level, in accordance with legal and client requirements. • Develop and deliver health, safety and environmental training to employees including but not limited to; induction, safe working practices. • Review and approve contractor’s health, safety and environmental plans, risk assessments and method statements against legal and client requirements prior to the work being carried out. • Plan daily morning site visits across project sites to ensure health and safety measures are in place before works begins. • Carry out weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel and ensure all the corrective/preventive actions are closed out. • Organise HSE meetings with clients, project staff, and contractors. • Initiate and test emergency response plans and ensure the drills are carried out as per the project schedule and performance standards. • Ensure HSE Inspectors follow up on contractor’s incident investigation reports are completed and corrective actions are identified and closed out to prevent a recurrence and provide necessary technical guidance for accident protection. • Conduct regular site safely reviews. • Liaise with enforcement authorities (PCFC, EHS Checks) prepare and submit monthly HSE reports in conjunction with contractor personnel and to the client.
Requirements
Consultant QHSE Engineer Experience: • Proven track record of working as a consultant QHSE engineer on construction projects in the UAE • Previous Engineering consultancy experience is essential • 5-8+ years of relevant experience as a QHSE engineer • Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering or related • Minimum of NEBOSH IGC certification • IOSH, IIRSM or CSP accreditation is preferred • UAE Driving license is essential

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field. • Minimum 12 years' experience in contract administration or QS role, preferably within the Cost Consultancy/Main Contracting sector. • Strong knowledge of FIDIC, JCT, NEC, or equivalent contract forms. • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. • Proficiency in MS Office and contract/cost management software.
