Main Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive safety procedures and plans tailored to power generation projects.
- Conduct risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and method statements to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Prepare and maintain safety documentation, including HSE plans, emergency response plans, and fire safety management plans.
- Monitor on-site activities to ensure compliance with safety procedures, regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to promote a culture of safety.
- Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within power generation.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices in the power generation industry.
- Proven experience preparing safety documents, including risk assessments, JSAs, method statements, and HSE plans.
- Good understanding of power generation processes, equipment, and hazards, including electrical safety, confined space entry, working at heights, and hazardous energy control.
- Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, ISO 45001 Internal Auditor, IOSH, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to safety.

About the role
As a Power Generation Account Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery of sound engineering risk selection advice for Underwriters and loss prevention advice for our clients.
Main job responsibilities :
- Provide global engineering support to underwriters for Power Generation accounts.
- Perform both operational and construction field surveys of Powergen sites, determine inherent risk and audit all departments to verify effectiveness of risk prevention and mitigation controls
- Develop loss prevention recommendations, to reduce the risk of property damage and business interruption.
- Present survey results to site management focusing on the risk analysis, conclusions and loss prevention recommendations.
- Complete report writing in an accurate and timely fashion using AIG report format, loss estimation methods and software, and AIG risk rating tools.
- Carry out desk top risk analysis by reviewing, interpreting and summarizing third party, technical risk information.
- Explain survey and desk top analysis to your underwriters.
- Manage survey programs for your assigned industry clients, including service plan development, service co-ordination, report reviews & stewardship meetings.
- Produce Account Summary Reports (ASRs) and explain them to your underwriters so they can make effective underwriting decisions.
- Peer review completed survey reports & account reviews.
- Learn from losses, understanding the root causes and how they could have been avoided: Apply that learning in your work.
What we're looking for :
Experience :
- Extensive industrial experience in power plant Operations, Engineering or Maintenance within a boiler / gas turbine or electrical transformer manufacturer.
- Strong Health, Safety and Environmental awareness. NEEBOSH and experience of relevant ISO standards would be an advantage
Other advantageous experience :
- Knowledge / experience of a range of power station technologies including conventional thermal, combustion turbines, nuclear & renewable power generation facilities.
- Experience of power generation design / construction projects.
- Previous experience of working for a major insurance carrier or broker.
- Working across a range of global cultures.
Technical Skills / Competencies
- Graduate Electrical or Mechanical engineer.
- Knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, procedures and techniques.
- Good technical engineering background and loss prevention skills.
- Other working languages would be an advantage.
Key Measures / Dimensions
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (English).
- Excellent organizational, documentation, analytical and IT skills.
- Highly motivated and work well without close supervision.
- Ability to make decisions with and without established guidelines
- Ability to work within a team environment and to lead insurance surveys in the field.
- Ability to clearly explain technical issues to underwriters & clients and especially the impact on loss potential.
- Ability to deliver survey reports and account reviews on-time.
- Able to undertake international travel for up to 90 days per year
- Must be able to perform physical activities required for the position (i.e., be on feet and walking 8-10 hours a day, climbing ladders, being at high elevations), wearing all required safety equipment (hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection)
