Job Description

Reporting to: Head of Editorial and Content Strategy

Expected starting date: as soon as possible

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Write and edit content across the Foundation’s print and digital platforms, including contributing to texts used as part of open calls, social media posts, press releases, overviews, forewords, scripts, interviews, news items and reports.
  2. Offer proposals and ideas for the development of new print and digital editorial projects including critical writing fellowships, publications, podcasts and blogs.
  3. Overseeing logistical coordination and providing administrative support for various projects to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
  4. Maintain consistency in content quality and adherence to the Foundation’s established style and standards.
  5. Assist in preparing the budget for editorial projects, track expenses and invoices with the finance team.
  6. Work with colleagues from different departments and sections in the foundation to develop and execute the established content strategy.
  7. Work with external organisations to help execute projects for the Foundation.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English Language, Literature or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in editorial, publishing, content creation.
  • Previous experience working in cultural institutions, museums, or arts organizations (preferred).
  • Knowledge (on the level of an educated native speaker) of British English syntax, vocabulary, punctuation and spelling.
  • Skill in writing and editing different types of texts.
  • Skill in understanding tone, format, language, ideas communicated across different print and digital platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including Markup, and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and deliver results under pressure in fast-paced environments.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • High level of concentration and attention to detail.
  • Methodical and well-organised approach to work.
  • Tact and diplomacy in working with others.
Conditions of Work

The role is a full-time position based in Sharjah, with working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Thursday. Before Sharjah Biennials and other major exhibitions and events, additional work may be required.

We are currently seeking a Lead Digital Designer to join our growing Creative Design Team.

The Lead Digital Designer will assist the Creative Manager and work collaboratively with various stake holders, developing, conceptualizing, and implementing visual content for the Ounass homepage and various social media channels. He/ She will create content as per the creative calendar and additional AdHoc needs for the business, ensuring that all assets created adhere to brand and creative guidelines and aesthetics.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Work closely with the creative team to develop, conceptualize, and execute design strategies ensuring the translation of the look-and-feel through all design projects
  • Promote a spirit of innovation and creativity within the design team to ensure that new ideas keep coming
  • Assist Creative Manager to provide compelling, differentiated, and memorable visual direction for campaigns or design executions
  • Help the Creative Manager with campaign ideation- identifying core campaign ideas for specific channels
  • Ability to present visual concepts through creative storyboards
  • Ability to develop quick design ideas based on the provided brief and ensure that all deadlines are followed
  • Work with Content, Editorial, PR, and Brand Marketing teams to design and deliver excellent visual site imagery with quality and performance
  • Create visual designs that effectively communicate seasonal concepts and brand identity, including the design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, interface elements, iconography, typography, style guides, etc.
  • Work closely with the digital merchandising team, styling team, product managers, UX architects, front-end developers, other internal departments to ensure a unified approach to providing an engaging brand experience for the customer
  • Keep up to date on the latest platform/industry/creative trends and digital best practices, always seeking the next opportunity in this space for the brand
  • Work within designated timelines and brand guidelines
  • Contribute to the betterment of team infrastructure (process, templates, training, etc.) that will help the team to scale and be more efficient and impactful

What We Look For
  • 6+ years of experience in creative in-house or at an agency
  • A strong design portfolio to showcase your creativity and familiarity with digital designing
  • Significant experience in working in a digital and a fast-paced environment
  • An eye for detail and analytical skills to read and take inputs from the audience and market research data
  • Ability to cope with a challenging work environment driven by results and where deadlines are respected
  • The ability to work within a team and independently as required
  • Strong knowledge of various designing processes and prior experience in managing them
  • Strong grasp of working on various designing software’s and tools
  • Familiarity with the latest technology that has become standard in the industry
  • Ability to prioritize and manage your work adhering to project timelines
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, collaborative, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of typography, color, and layout
