- Observe and interpret instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, frequency meters, synchro scopes, temperature recorders, and engine oil, fuel, and coolant gauges.
- Adjust engine generator systems to maintain proper voltage, current, frequency, and synchronization; synchronize multiple generators when necessary.
- Operate medium and low voltage generators as required, including start-up, load transfer, generation, and shutdown of associated electric power equipment.
- Monitor and adjust generator and electrical output performance as needed; ensure adequate fuel stores for continuous operation.
Duties include monitoring key operational parameters and taking corrective measures for out-of-tolerance conditions. For locations providing prime power, these duties must be performed on a 24-hour, 7-day schedule if continuous power is required.
Required Skills and Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent training/experience, a valid driver's license, and at least five years of experience in electrical power generation. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge of electronics and electricity principles, electrical circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters. Strong management skills and the ability to work independently are also essential.
