We are seeking a highly organized and environmentally conscious Waste Management Manager to oversee all aspects of waste collection, disposal, recycling, and sustainability initiatives. This role is responsible for developing and implementing waste handling procedures, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and managing teams and contractors involved in waste operations. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of waste-related systems and policies, ensuring safe, efficient, and eco-friendly practices across all sites. Responsibilities: -Oversee daily operations of waste collection, segregation, transportation, and disposal -Develop and enforce waste management policies and procedures in line with local and federal regulations -Implement recycling and waste reduction programs across facilities or project sites -Supervise waste management staff and coordinate with external contractors and service providers -Conduct regular audits and inspections of waste handling processes and facilities -Monitor environmental compliance and maintain documentation for regulatory reporting -Manage budgets, procurement, and inventory related to waste handling equipment and services -Respond to public or internal inquiries regarding waste services and sustainability efforts -Train staff on proper waste handling, safety procedures, and environmental awareness -Collaborate with government agencies, environmental consultants, and community stakeholders
Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field -Minimum 5 years of experience in waste management or environmental operations -Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal waste regulations -Experience managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams -Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills -Proficiency in data analysis, reporting tools, and waste management software -Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are a strong advantage

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Sustainability and Environment Specialist (Waste Management) to join our team! In this role you will get to contribute to the waste management strategies for the delivery of challenging, iconic, high-quality infrastructure, public realm and masterplan projects.
What You'll Be Doing:- Be part of complex project teams which require waste management alone or as part of sustainability certification and environmental compliance, from conception to project completion.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams during planning, design development, tendering and construction supervision to enable achievement of projects sustainability and environmental goals, and project permits.
- Develop tailored waste reduction and sustainability strategies for clients and propose innovative solutions to minimize waste and maximize resource recovery.
- Work with clients to assess their waste management processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop strategies to minimize waste, improve recycling efforts, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations for UAE, KSA and the rest of the EMEA region.
- Develop technical reports and studies for waste management as part of project deliverables.
- Prepare and submit permit and license applications, and coordinate with authorities to secure approvals.
- Analyze waste generation data to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
- Prepare community operational solid waste management plans as part of sustainability certification documentation.
- Review deliverables prepared by consultants, suppliers, and contractors for accuracy and quality.
- As a Waste Specialist, you will play a critical role in helping organizations reduce their environmental impact and achieve their sustainability goals.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in architecture, engineering, planning, or related natural sciences field.
- Work experience of minimum 3-5 years in an international engineering design and project management or sustainability consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of waste management practices, recycling technologies, and sustainability principles.
- Results‑driven and able to provide expert advice and solutions for waste management.
- Detail oriented, well‑organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team, on multiple projects in parallel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language for use in preparation of and delivery of high-quality documents in terms of grammar, composition, formatting, layout, spelling and organization.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Stay updated on waste management and environmental laws and industry standards.
- Bachelors degree or above in environmental management, circular economy, architecture, engineering, planning, or related natural sciences field.
- Experience in coordinating with diverse individuals and teams including client, consultant, contractor, design, and construction members to enable achievement of project sustainability objectives and targets.
- Bring a clear understanding of global good waste management consultancy practices and delivery of projects that include bespoke advice.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.

• Oversee and ensure implementation of environmental management plans (EMP) and monitoring programs in line with local laws, Etihad Rail standards, and international best practices. • Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) and ensure mitigation measures are applied effectively and documented in accordance with IFC Performance Standards and ESIA protocols. • Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., MOCCAE, EAD) for environmental approvals, permits, audits, and sustainability disclosures. • Perform site inspections, audits, and risk assessments related to environmental compliance, including aspects of energy efficiency, biodiversity, and climate-related risk. • Monitor air, water, soil, and noise pollution levels at project sites and recommend corrective actions aligned with national limits and global sustainability goals (e.g., UN SDGs 6, 11, 13, 15). • Support carbon footprint assessments and promote low-carbon design, procurement, and construction methodologies in coordination with engineering and construction teams. • Integrate sustainability indicators such as waste minimization, resource conservation, and circular economy principles into project execution. • Contribute to sustainability reporting, including alignment with GRI Standards and tracking of Scope 1, 2, and relevant Scope 3 emissions. • Prepare detailed environmental and sustainability reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including ESG alignment where applicable. • Lead or support environmental awareness and sustainability training for project staff to promote a culture of continuous improvement and responsible development. • Stay up to date with global and regional trends in sustainable infrastructure and incorporate innovative solutions into project execution.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in: • Environmental engineering or environmental science with focus or minor in sustainable development • Sustainability and Environmental Management • Civil Engineering with a focus on Environmental or Sustainable Infrastructure • Environmental Policy or Environmental Planning • Master’s degree or postgraduate certification in Sustainability or Climate Policy will be an additional advantage. • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in environmental engineering, with at least 2 years specifically on the Etihad Rail project or similar large-scale infrastructure projects in the UAE. • Strong knowledge of UAE environmental regulations, permitting processes, and regulatory agencies. • Experience working with international standards such as IFC, ISO 14001, GRI, and ESIA frameworks. • Familiarity with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), carbon accounting methodologies (e.g., GHG Protocol), and climate adaptation/resilience strategies in infrastructure. • Excellent reporting, communication, and coordination skills. • Experience with environmental data management systems and sustainability performance tracking tools is an advantage. • Must be currently based in the UAE. • Valid UAE Driving License is mandatory. • Strong English communication skills (Arabic is a plus).
