An Environmental Specialist is required to play a key role in ensuring that our projects comply with environmental regulations and standards.

This includes reviewing and implementing project environmental studies, supporting the Environmental Officer(s) and Project Manager in adhering to Environment Management Plans, and reporting to the Environmental Superintendent on all project environmental issues.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Review and implement project environmental studies, including HSIEA, CEMP, PER, EIA, etc., in coordination with Clients and external agents.
  • Support the Environmental Officer(s) and Project Manager in adherence to Environment Management Plans.
  • Report to Environmental Superintendent on all project environmental issues.
  • Coordinate with External agents (third-party laboratories, consultants, engineering firms, etc.) to obtain deliverables in a timely and practical manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in utilizing key environmental equipment and applying such resources.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and abilities to work cohesively with subordinates and peers, including fieldwork, reporting, training/awareness programs development.
  • Strictly adhere to CEMP specifications, mitigation control plans, Project strategies, management plans, waste segregation and management, carbon footprint/emissions calculation, federal and local standards and regulations.
  • Design and implement project environment management plans in line with Client requirements, environment studies recommendations, and in cooperation with project management.
  • Act as HSE engineer, familiarizing health and safety guidelines/policies and compliance at all times during the Project's longevity.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and oversee Project activities, particularly environmental aspects, and demonstrate utmost proficiency in compiling accurate technical reports and letters.
  • Prepare necessary 'environment management' related submittals for tenders and proposals in line with client requirements and NMDC EMS.
  • Review and follow up with local authorities on environmental permits.
  • Conduct internal management system audits and subcontractors' audits on compliance with applicable standards.
  • Conduct Environment aspect/impact assessment for activities.
  • Perform incident and accident investigations and report findings back to environmental Supt.
  • Review and monitor Environmental Officer's performance in projects.

  • Report performance details of Implemented HSEMS to top management at periodic intervals and during Management Review meetings.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Science, or equivalent.
  • General HSE certificate in NEBOSH / IOSH is preferable.
  • Minimum 03 years' experience in a similar role and industry.
