In this role, you will be responsible for installing, servicing and repairing temperature and air quality control systems in staff accommodation. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Repairing, maintaining and providing technical attention to all electrical and mechanical refrigeration systems of the staff accommodation - freezer, fridges, ice makers, fan coil units, chiller, etc.
- Performing preventive maintenance on all air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Inspecting and monitoring performance of refrigeration systems and related components.
- Checking and maintaining door gaskets, latches, and closing systems for walk-in coolers and freezers.
- Servicing and maintaining defrosting systems and ice maker automation.
- Responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff accommodation.
- Cleaning and maintaining fan coil units and air-handling unit filters regularly.
- Monitoring the performance of air-conditioning and chilled water systems.
- Collaborating with engineering colleagues to identify and resolve system failures.
- Ensuring strict compliance with environmental standards, including prevention of CFC emissions.
- Overhauling and conducting major repairs on AC and refrigeration equipment as required.
- Checking refrigeration and oil levels and carrying out corrective measures when necessary.
- Coordinating with the Engineering Storekeeper regarding spare parts and purchases.
- Ensuring all work is performed in compliance with technical regulations, safety, and country standards.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A technical diploma or vocational training in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (or equivalent).
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as an Environmental Systems Technician, preferably in staff accommodation or hospitality.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, and preventive maintenance.
- The ability to diagnose and repair both electrical and mechanical faults.
- Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to respond quickly to maintenance requests.
- Flexibility to work shifts and attend emergency breakdowns.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards.
