Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience with radar systems (installation, configuration, troubleshooting).
  • Strong technical knowledge of radar hardware and software, including signal processing and calibration.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and test equipment.
  • Experience with RF systems, antennas, and electronic warfare systems is a plus.

The day-to-day

This position requires contributing to shared knowledge, documentation, training of peers and other partners, and may require travel to other ViaSat offices, customer locations, and airline maintenance locations up to 75%.

The ideal candidate will have a background in commercial aircraft systems, specifically electrical and avionics equipment fixing and testing. The critical nature of the work requires good judgment, initiative and specialized technical expertise to understand problems and develop recommended solutions. This role must be comfortable working both as part of a distributed team, and independently as a remote resource. Prior experience working in a remote/distributed team is a plus.

Experience with hardware and software elements involved in IP networking and satellite communications is preferred. Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX configuration, and ability to capture and interpret network traces is a plus.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Assist ViaSat’s customers with the planning and execution of maintenance, fixing and repair efforts.
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation and records of all maintenance work performed on customer aircraft.
  • Travel to customer maintenance locations on short notice to support fixing and repair operations.
  • Provide training to maintenance vendors and airline personnel on installation and maintenance of the ViaSat IFC solution.

  • Diagnose troubleshoot and resolve technical issues onsite and remotely.
  • Perform routine inspections preventive maintenance and system updates.
  • Manage system configurations including version control documentation and change tracking to ensure consistency and compliance with client requirements.
  • Offer training and guidance to endusers and maintenance personnel on radar systems operation and best practices.
  • Work with crossfunctional teams (engineering project management) to escalate and resolve complex issues.
  • Support supply chain and logistics tasks such as tracking spare parts ensuring timely delivery and managing the logistics for field maintenance activities.
  • Prepare detailed reports on support activities system performance and customer feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while working in the field.
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of the latest radar technologies and Thales product offerings.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering Electronics or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience with radar systems (installation configuration troubleshooting).
  • Strong technical knowledge of radar hardware and software including signal processing and calibration.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams schematics and manuals.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and test equipment.
  • Experience with RF systems antennas and electronic warfare systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Fluent in English is mandatory. French Dutch and Arabic are a plus.
  • Ability to obtain Security clearance to access military sites.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (domestic and international) to work oncall and shifts in various field environments and conditions.
  • Ability to work independently manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance is currently searching for a Field Sales Support Specialist in Southern California.
The Field Support Specialist works closely with the Commercial Roofing Sales Representative to support and increase the sales activity in the Sales Representative’s region. Maintains accounts through prospecting, closing, and providing solid market presence including serving customers.
Developing Business

  • Preparing and/or distributing marketing materials
  • Inspection and evaluation of the property
  • Preparing roof drawings and sketches
  • Preparing scope of work documents
  • Preparing proposals
  • Attending sales calls
  • Pricing patch and repair jobs
  • Providing technical expertise
  • Attending meetings with the architect, contractor and/or owner
Managing Accounts
  • Identifying, analyzing, resolving problems
  • Preparing reports to owners regarding the condition of roofs.
  • Project site visits to monitor installation of Tremco roofing products
  • Identification of any aspect of installation that does not comply with specifications
  • Review and resolve concerns of architects, contractors and owners regarding Tremco’s installation instructions
  • Coordinating visits with contractors
  • Preparing reports on progress and problems for the Sales Representative.
  • QA/ QA+ inspections
  • Tremcare Gold Service (periodic visual inspection with minor repairs being addressed where detected on Tremco warranted roofs only).
  • Identifying and troubleshooting problems arising during installation and the lifecycle of the roof
May occasionally perform patch and repair work for small leaks that can be performed quickly after identifying the leak and other infrequent, limited physical labor. May also perform minor maintenance (caulking, flashing touch up, applying small amounts of mastic, removing debris, etc.) to prevent potential leaks.

  • Conducting diagnostic infra-red scans of roofs
  • Taking photographs
  • Preparing CADD drawings
  • Delivering or picking up samples, documents or small products from/to architects, owners and contractors.
Education And/or Experience
  • Minimum: Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a minimum of two to three years of related hands-on experience and/or training in a similar role.
  • Prior sales and/or customer related experience in roofing industry required.
Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding and application of roofing and waterproofing contracting standards.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel and familiarity with CADD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and technical information, e.g. professional journals and periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to draft reports, business correspondence and similar documents.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, contractors, and architects.
  • Ability to communicate business and technical information (e.g. information relating to status of projects, remediation plans, and customer concerns) to Sales Representative.
  • Intermediate skills: ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, area, circumference and volume.
The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $70,000 and $90,000. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
