Job Purpose
To lead the design, engineering, and technical development of fire protection systems in compliance with UAE Civil Defense regulations, NFPA standards, and project requirements. Ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely design deliverables that support project execution and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the design of fire protection systems (sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, FM200/clean agent systems, fire pumps, detection, and alarm systems).
- Review project specifications, drawings, and client requirements to prepare detailed fire protection system designs.
- Ensure compliance with UAE Civil Defense codes, NFPA, and other international standards.
- Prepare hydraulic calculations, material take-offs, and BOQs.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and authorities for design approvals and NOC submissions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and draftsmen.
- Support tendering teams by reviewing technical documents, drawings, and cost estimates.
- Conduct design reviews, value engineering, and resolve design-related issues during execution.
- Liaise with project managers, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in fire protection system design, with at least 3–5 years in a lead/managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of UAE Civil Defense codes and approval processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation software (e.g., Elite Fire, HASS).
- Excellent knowledge of NFPA, BS, and other international fire protection standards.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
- Previous UAE/GCC experience with approved designs by Civil Defense authorities.
- Professional certification (NFPA, PMP, or equivalent) is an advantage.

What You Will Do
As an Estimation Engineer specializing in Fire Protection, you will support Consultant, PMC, EPC, and End Users by providing budgetary proposals during the FEED stage. You will handle tender files, conduct site surveys, attend bid-clarification meetings, review tender documents, and ensure clear communication with stakeholders. Your expertise in cost estimation, vendor management, and proposal preparation will help deliver competitive bids that meet project requirements.
How You Will Do ItMaintain and organize tender-related files, quotations, and documents.
Conduct site surveys and generate comprehensive reports.
Seek clarifications from customers or department managers regarding tender specifications.
Engage with sub-vendors and sub-contractors while ensuring compliance with Johnson Controls' policies.
Analyze quotations from suppliers and estimate costs for materials, engineering, labor, and project management.
Collaborate with internal departments to determine related costs and terms.
Ensure all approvals are obtained and support the DOA approval process if required.
Prepare risk registers, allocate costs where necessary, and submit structured proposals.
Participate in technical and commercial negotiations to align with project expectations.
Organize handovers with the Operations team to ensure seamless execution.
Attend kickoff meetings and adhere to quality, health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering, with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Fire Protection Systems.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, local codes, ADNOC requirements, and Oil & Gas industry practices.
Software Proficiency: Experience with AutoCAD and MS Office Suite.
Skills & Attributes: Strong negotiation skills, vendor management experience, customer-focused mindset, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
