About the Role
Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer with a minimum of 7 years post graduate experience.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering complex geotechnical design solutions across major infrastructure projects including highways, motorways, rail, active travel schemes, and drainage works.
This is a crucial position within our Geotechnical team, supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary design projects for both public and private sector clients across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage geotechnical input on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and review geotechnical design calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior staff within the geotechnical team.
- Undertake ground investigation scoping, design, supervision, and interpretation.
- Collaborate with civil, structural, and environmental engineering teams.
- Liaise with project stakeholders, clients, and contractors during design and construction phases.
- Ensure that all geotechnical design work is delivered to the highest quality and safety standards in accordance with Eurocodes and Irish/UK standards.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for and have expertise in both design and construction supervision of geotechnical activities. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, preparing technical reports, and overseeing geotechnical projects from conceptualization to completion. Piling Systems:
Design and analyze pile foundations (end-bearing, friction piles, etc.) for diverse soil conditions and load requirements.
Supervise piling construction activities to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
Soil Improvement:
Design and implement soil stabilization solutions, including dynamic compaction, stone columns and vibro compaction.
Monitor ground improvement processes and validate performance through testing.
Pit Shoring & Dewatering:
Design shoring systems (sheet piles, diaphragm walls, soldier piles) for deep excavations.
- Plan and execute dewatering strategies (wellpoints, deep wells) to control groundwater during construction.
- Ensure shoring and dewatering designs adhere to Dubai Municipality and international standards.
Furthermore, here below are the additional duties regardless of the specialites.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings and specifications using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or PLAXIS.
- Liaise with contractors, clients, and government authorities (e.g. Dubai Municipality) to resolve on-site challenges.
Requirements
License:
Valid Dubai Municipality Engineer License (required).
Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred) / Civil Engineering.
Graduated from a prestigious university is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in relevant design experience in one or more of the following: pile foundation, shoring, soil improvement (soil treatment) or dewatering (Dubai experience preferred).
Extra experience in the aforementioned speciality is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in engineering software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, ETABS, AutoCAD, etc.) and MS Office.
Strong knowledge of Dubai Municipality regulations and geotechnical investigation methods.
Languages:
The working language is English. Fluency in English is required.
The multilingual candidate is preferred (especially in Arabic or Chinese or both).
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, communication, writing skills and deadline management abilities.
