Migration Architect: Convert SAS to Python, optimize data flow, ensure script integrity, and train teams in Python for Suadeo's DataMesh strategy.

Job Description / Role

Existing System Analysis:
  1. Map the current application developed in SAS.
  2. Identify dependencies, business rules, and critical processes.
Migration Design:
  1. Propose a target architecture in Python aligned with Suadeo's DataMesh strategy and federated governance.
  2. Contribute to drafting technical specifications.
Development and Optimization:
  1. Convert SAS scripts to Python using best practices in data engineering.
  2. Optimize data flow performance by leveraging relevant Python libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Dask, PySpark, etc., as needed).
Testing and Validation:
  1. Ensure the integrity of results after script conversion.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:
  1. Write technical documentation on new scripts and data pipelines.
  2. Train internal teams on new Python practices to ensure full tool adoption.
Requirements TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  1. Strong expertise in SAS: ability to create complex scripts, use macros, and manage analytical models.
  2. Proficiency in Python: especially for migrating ETL pipelines or statistical models.
  3. Familiarity with Python libraries for data manipulation and analysis (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy).
  4. Knowledge of cloud environments and Kubernetes (an asset for integration into containerized systems).
  5. Experience with version control tools (Git, GitLab).
ABOUT YOU:
  1. Ability to work collaboratively in an agile SAFe environment.
  2. Autonomy and proactivity in identifying and solving issues.
  3. Strong communication and teaching skills for effective knowledge transfer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Master's degree (Bac +5) in computer science, statistics, or equivalent.
  2. At least 5 years of experience working on projects involving SAS and Python.
  3. Experience in similar migration projects is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end data migration process for Finacle implementation, including planning, design, extraction, transformation, loading (ETL), validation, and reconciliation.

  • Coordinate with business, technology, and vendor teams to ensure smooth migration of customer, account, transaction, and reference data.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in core banking implementations, with at least 4 years in Finacle data migration projects .
  • Strong hands-on experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) using tools like SQL, PL/SQL, Python, or Informatica.
  • In-depth understanding of Finacle database schema and core modules (CIF, CASA, Loans, Deposits, GL, etc.).
  • Proven experience in data mapping, cleansing, and reconciliation processes.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to data accuracy and consistency.
  • Experience working in Agile/Waterfall project environments and managing vendor relationships.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
