This Position Reports To
Automation Engineering Manager
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the technical lead for all engineering activities in assignments. Each day, you will ensure the activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by acting as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline and completing the corresponding engineering assignments.
You will serve as the technical lead for engineering activities in assignments classified as low to medium engineering complexity, with a specialization in Power Management Systems (PMS), Substation Control and Monitoring Systems (SCMS), or Process Control and/or Safety Systems using ABB 800xA, Symphony Plus (S+), or other ABB Control Systems. You will ensure project execution meets contractual specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. In addition to delivering excellent customer service, you will collaborate closely with customers and ABB teams to identify and pursue new service business opportunities.

This role is reporting to the Automation Engineering Manager in Abu Dhabi. Main stakeholders are customers, project managers, engineering teams (in-house and outsourced), contractors, suppliers, and commissioning/service teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborating on project installation, commissioning, and site activities to clarify potential issues or provide solutions to rectify engineering errors, ensuring compliance with HSE and quality standards
- Coaching the project engineers and designers on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, including modelling, prototyping, and calculations, while supporting skill development across the team
- Leading, supervising, and coordinating teams (less than 10 members) in all engineering disciplines (both in-house and outsourced) on low to medium complexity projects
- Applying design thinking or design for excellence concepts in projects, including modelling, prototyping, simulation, and calculations
- Acting as the technical lead and design authority, evaluating and applying standard techniques to ensure engineering deliverables conform to safety and quality requirements
- Interacting with customers, contractors, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure delivery meets contractual obligations and enhances customer satisfaction
- Supporting the Project Manager in risk and opportunity assessments, identifying repeat business opportunities and supporting claims and scope management
- Performing complex field service tasks, identifying technical problems, and providing recommendations to improve system and operational performance
- Creating work plans and cost estimates in collaboration with Project Managers, ensuring timely and cost-effective project execution using standard tools and processes
- Utilizing deep knowledge of ABB products (especially ABB 800xA, Symphony Plus, and IEC 61850) to act as a focal point for customer support and contribute to service business development
Qualifications
- You are highly skilled in ABB 800xA/Symphony Plus (S+), PMS/SCMS or ICSS systems and have experience working with automation solutions in the Oil & Gas and Power & Water sectors
- You are proficient in interface configuration using industrial protocols like IEC 61850, Modbus, Profibus, OPC, IEC 101, IEC 104, Profibus, between ABB automation systems and third-party systems or field devices as applicable
- You have over 5 years of experience in the automation field, working as a PMS/SCMS or ICSS Engineer with ABB control systems and industrial communication protocols
- Possess an enhanced knowledge of ABB 800xA with AC 800M, Symphony Plus, and industrial networking and cybersecurity solutions for control systems
- You are passionate about customer collaboration and problem solving, and have good communication skills
- Degree in Engineering with demonstrated expertise in automation systems and process applications across the Oil & Gas and Power & Water industries
- You are at ease communicating in English with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders
- You hold current certifications and are proficient in tools like ABB PCM600 and Relion Series relays (for PMS/SCMS), or certified as a TUV Functional Safety Engineer (for ICSS), where applicable
- You are engaged in engineering design, configuration, and integration of ABB PMS/SCMS/ICSS solutions in both onshore and offshore project environments
- You enjoy working with IED engineering tools and ABB libraries such as PPM with Load Shedding and Load Sharing applications (for PMS/SCMS engineer)

Experience: Minimum of 6 to10 years of Professional experience, out of which atleast 3 to 5 years to be in LEAD Position. Should have done Civil and Structural design of Substations and Buildings and precast design.
Objective: As the Design Lead – Civil & Structural, the person to do the Design of RCC Buildings as per applicable international codes including ASCE,ACI, and BSEN standard. And should have knowledge of precast design.

Day-To-Day Operations
- Assume sole responsibility for assigned electrical engineering work scopes for Electrical Auxiliary Systems of HVDC and HVAC platforms.
- Carry out electrical discipline work within a project team, supporting the project team for field development of renewable energy projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

- 8 years experience in the smelting process with 3 years experience with growing managerial accountability in roles within similar operations, preferably in an aluminum smelting industry in a similar capacity with an end-to-end exposure and knowledge of the process.
- At least 1 year Experience in Data science projects.
Skills:
- Knowledge on data science and tool kits. (Data Robot, Paxata, Data IKU, Python/R).
- Knowledge on Azure and Sql Query.
