As a Senior Cargo Handling Assistant, you will distribute, allocate and monitor work progress of all Cargo, courier, mail and Express products within the assigned specific area such as (Manifesting, Build-up, Break down, Updating, Import Doc, Acceptance & Delivery, Ramp, Planning, Perishable, Quality & Tracing) of Hub operations. Manage and Guide a team Cargo Handling Assistants, Porters and Equipment operators in specific areas of operations in order to achieve/complete productivity targets and ensuring safety and security compliance. Responsible for the accuracy of all Cargo documents processed manually and within automated systems to enable Exports, Imports & transfers happen effectively in line with the agreement of carriage within the specified time norms.
In this role, you will;
- To closely co-ordinate the build up activity on a shift basis in order to achieve the SkyCargo objectives by monitoring the loading activities in the warehouse as well as the aircraft side. Ensure at all times, that the handling of time and temperature and pharmaceutical shipments demonstrates compliance to the European Union Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP) requirements.
- Plan the loading of the cargo product into ULDs/bulk for carriage on the assigned aircraft in accordance with the priorities given and the volume and payload available, to achieve the optimum utilisation of capacity.
- Check the cargo is loaded as specified in the load plan for assigned flights to ensure that the safety of the aircraft is not compromised and service and product quality standards are maintained.
- Advise and verify any deviations from planned cargo uplift requirements in order that the necessary amendments can be initiated and implemented to minimise the impact of deviations on service standards and revenue generation.
- Co-ordinate any special cargo handling requirements and alternations to advised plans with responsible authorised personnel within the GHA/CHA organisations to promote operational efficiency and service with the productive utilisation of resources. Assist customers where and when required in processing import and export cargo to maintain and enhance customer service standards and perceptions of Emirates.
- Check for and monitor cargo irregularities, discrepancies (damage, loss, etc) initiating preventive/corrective actions as necessary to minimise costs rising from claims, create safety awareness amongst junior staff.
- Inspect ULD's and ancillary cargo equipment reporting deficiencies for defect rectification in order to maintain safety standards prolong equipment life and reduce replacement costs.
- Monitor the offloading/unloading of cargo from/onto arriving/departing flights, checking for irregularities and/or deviations from standard policies and procedures, information superiors of problems and co-ordinating requirements with the designated responsible representatives of the Ground Handling Agent.
- Monitor the delivery times of cargo from the ramp to the warehouse and subsequent processing to assure quality standards in respect of customer service detailing deviations in order to maintain and enhance product quality.
- To update information on Skychain with shipment details, this will enable customers to track the status. Communicate with outstations by exchanging information to achieve the operational objectives and thus best service to our customers.
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below;
- 12 years of schooling or equivalent .
- 3+ years in Air Cargo / Logistics.
- Knowledge of Skychain.
- Advance Cargo courses and Dangerous Goods Acceptance, when deployed in acceptance and DG documentation verification functions.
- Ability to demonstrable high level of knowledge and competence in Good Distribution Practice (GDP) acquired through experience and training.
- Sound knowledge of cargo operation handling and documentation procedures.
- Ability to work independently based on guidelines provided.
