Material Inspector
Dubai

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Material Inspector to join our team! In this role you will get to perform the necessary tests, checking the arrived materials to ensure compliance with the project’s requirements and specification and inspection of all used materials on site.

• Will supervise all the tests and sampling on site.
• Witness all the laboratory tests and in situ tests by contractor or third-party tester on the materials and prepare the samples for testing.
• Coordinate with the Work Inspector in charge of the work to confirm approval of the work for testing and discuss areas of concern.
• Perform sampling and testing in quick and efficient way to avoid undue delay to the Contractor’s operations.
• Perform regular checks of delivered materials to the site for conformance with the approved source or supplier.
• Get involved in quality control and quality assurance.
• Assists the Senior Work Inspector (Materials) and the Senior Materials Engineer in all activities related to review, approval, testing and acceptance of the used materials.

• Technical diploma in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in similar nature or civil engineering graduate with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience on roads and bridges projects.
• Must possess the ability to read working drawings, related specifications, inspection and test plans and method statements and be capable of enforcing such specifications and contract drawings.
• Must be fully computer literate and able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc. and any project specific engineering and construction relevant software.
• Good written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with project team.

Job Description:

Materials Engineer

Dubai, UAE

• Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately. Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings.
• Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
• Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
• Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
• Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
• Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents. Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
• May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
• May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7+ years of related experience on road works, bridges and infrastructure projects.
• Experience in reviewing third party designs and coordinating comments for approval.
• Experience of working within a multi-discipline team environment.
• Must be able to attend in-person client interviews.

The role will be responsible for overseeing the design and coordination of regional transport projects that incorporate high quality of design and materials selection. This role requires a good level of knowledge and experience in high-quality interior design, the selection of materials, samples and mock-ups, and coordination with multi-disciplinary engineering. Key Responsibilities:

• Oversight of the interior design elements, including the review of the Contractors’ material selection, detailing, integration within the overall context, as well as the quality of on-site construction and installation.

Qualifications:

• 7-10 years of proven experience in complex transport projects.
• Firsthand experience of managing the interior design and material selection, detailing and construction within transport projects.
• Strong knowledge of international and local design codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Has a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
• Ability to address and resolve design issues promptly and efficiently.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing and approving design submissions.
