Materials Engineer

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Materials Engineer to join our team!

What You'll Be Doing:

• Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately. Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings.

• Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.

• Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.

• Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.

• Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.

• Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents. Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.

• May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.

• May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.

• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology.

• Minimum 7 years of related experience on road works, bridges and infrastructure projects.

What you will need to do:

• Material Management:
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials in the warehouse.

What you will need to have:

• Additional certifications such as Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) from APICS can be highly advantageous.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in material engineering, warehouse management, or a related field with previous Oil & Gas Experience
• Proficiency in inventory management software and material handling equipment.
• Knowledge of material properties, testing methods, and quality standards.
• Previous experience in large Oil & Gas Projects is required; ADNOC experience is highly preferable.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale projects.

Job Overview:

As a Materials Engineer, you will support the accurate and timely preparation of project estimates by ensuring material specifications are technically sound, cost-efficient, and aligned with project requirements.

You will evaluate material choices, assist in value engineering exercises, and coordinate closely across departments to bridge the gaps between design intent, estimation feasibility, and cost planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the key technical liaison between Design, Procurement, and Quantity Surveying during project estimation phases.
• Review and validate material specifications, availability, and compliance with standards and design requirements.
• Analyze material take-offs and provide input on material quantity validation to support the estimation team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare the material submittals and obtain the required approvals according to the applicable standards and project specifications.
• Serves as the focal point for the scheduling and control of construction materials at the job site.
• Coordinates work of consultants/ contractors for material testing.
• Maintains office files related to the project, material inspections and writes daily diaries.
