Job Purpose
+ Provide strategic metallurgical leadership for FEED and Detail Engineering projects in the Oil & Gas sector.
+ Develop and supervise metallurgical design bases, material selection, corrosion control strategies, and materials data sheets to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
+ Lead material integrity programs, failure analysis, and interfaces with process, mechanical, and reliability teams.
+ Mentor engineers, drive quality and schedule adherence, and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead the selection and specification of materials for process equipment, piping, structures, and components exposed to corrosive environments and high-temperature service.
+ Develop and review metallurgical design basis, material specs, data sheets, damage mechanisms (corrosion, erosion, fatigue, creep), and repair strategies.
+ Conduct and supervise metallurgical analyses (corrosion rate assessments, creep/fatigue evaluation, line-of-sight failures, weldability, heat treatment, heat affected zone considerations).
+ Ensure compliance with codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, NACE, ASTM) and project-specific requirements.
+ Coordinate interfaces with process, mechanical, piping, corrosion, and reliability teams; manage vendors and third-party assessments.
+ Lead root cause investigations of material failures and implement corrective actions, lessons learned, and prevention plans.
+ Review and approve technical deliverables (material specifications, MOC/Change Notes, design change requests, NCRs).
+ Mentor and develop junior metallurgy engineers; support staffing, training, and performance reviews.
+ Develop and manage execution plans, man-hour estimates, and budgets for metallurgy scope.
+ Ensure QA/QC practices, drawing standards, datasheets, and requisition packages related to metallurgy.
+ Support fabrication, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities; participate in inspectors' reviews and as-built documentation.
+ Stay current with advances in metallurgy and corrosion science; propose value-added solutions.
Experience
+ Experience: 15+ years of experience in FEED and Detail Engineering and EPCM experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
+ ADNOC EPC/PMC experience are highly preferred
+ Demonstrated track record delivering metallurgical design and material integrity studies on FEED/detail projects.
Qualifications
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a metallurgy/mineral/ materials focus or related field.
+ Professional membership or relevant certifications (e.g., NACE, CP, CMRP) are advantageous.
+ Certification related to corrosion engineering or materials (e.g., NACE Corrosion, AWS welding credentials) is a plus.
Technical Skills

The Senior Material Engineer will be responsible for selecting, testing, and managing construction materials to ensure the safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness of the projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Source and evaluate construction materials, with expertise in materials properties and experience with park structures.
  2. Select and specify appropriate materials such as concrete, steel, aggregates, furniture, and equipment.
  3. Evaluate material performance under various environmental conditions to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  4. Conduct tests (compression, tensile, durability, chemical) to validate material quality.
  5. Ensure all materials meet standards like ASTM, BS, and ISO.
  6. Coordinate with testing agencies for validation and certification.
  7. Assess and approve suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery.
  8. Monitor material delivery schedules and address supply chain issues.
  9. Perform site inspections for proper handling and storage of materials.
Job Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Material Science, or related field with attested certificate.
  2. At least 10 years of experience in large-scale construction projects as a Material Engineer.
  3. Proficiency in material testing procedures and standards.
  4. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  5. Strong knowledge of construction practices, codes, and regulations.

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented **Infrastructure Materials & Specifications Engineer (Design)** to join our team! In this role you will get to provide technical support to the design and construction teams across roads, tunnels, bridges and utility projects. Your role will integrate directly with quality management processes to safeguard performance and durability of all infrastructure elements.
**What You'll Be Doing:**
+ Provide technical support to both design and construction teams.
+ Review design documents from a materials perspective to ensure best practice applications are being implemented.
+ Ensure compliance with all relevant codes and standards (e.g. ADQCC, ASTM, BS, AASHTO), and project specifications.
+ Coordinate closely with cross-functional stakeholders-design engineers, supervision teams, PMC/RE, suppliers, contractors-to address material-related issues and streamline approvals.
+ Support sustainable practices by recommending environmentally friendly materials and testing methodologies, and stay abreast of the latest innovations in materials engineering.
+ Update and develop technical materials specifications.
**What required skills you'll bring**
+ **Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering** , with minimum **8 years of design experience in materials and quality control for infrastructure projects-particularly roads, bridges, tunnels, and utilities** . Regional (UAE/GCC) experience is preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of ADQCC, local Abu Dhabi standards, and relevant international codes (ASTM, BS, AASHTO), plus experience handling materials under Abu Dhabi municipal specifications (e.g., DMT, ADM, AACM, DRM).
+ **Experience with design and construction of complex infrastructure projects with focus on materials and technical specifications, or similar frameworks.**
+ Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to present technical findings clearly and manage multiple project priorities.
+ Demonstrated ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and resolve material-related and specification issues collaboratively across project phases.
**What Desired Skills You'll Bring:**
+ Extensive knowledge of construction materials for infrastructure projects and specification development to enhance and improve infrastructure durability.
+ Familiarity with materials-related design and construction submission requirements of relevant stakeholders in Abu Dhabi.
