to lead the development, qualification, and optimisation of advanced materials and manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will be a recognised expert in materials engineering, with proven experience across industries such as aerospace, defence, or high-performance engineering.
This role covers the full lifecycle management of critical mechanical parts—from R&D and process development through to technical support and production implementation—with a strong focus on composite materials and non-ferrous metals, including copper and aluminium.
Key Responsibilities:
- Materials & Process Development
: Drive R&D initiatives to develop, validate, and implement innovative material and process technologies for final products, including additive manufacturing, advanced joining (welding, soldering), and composite manufacturing. - Technical Project Management
: Manage technical projects and work packages independently, from strategy definition and budgeting to delivery against project objectives. Prior experience preparing and implementing defence industry projects will be highly regarded. - Composite & Metallic Parts Management
: Oversee process development, manufacturing, and defect elimination for composite parts. Manage surface treatment and processing of metallic components, including aluminium, copper, and titanium alloys. - Qualification & Optimisation
: Qualify and optimise advanced manufacturing technologies—such as Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) and other additive or conventional processes—for full-scale production. - Materials Testing & Characterisation
: Plan, conduct, and coordinate destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT), residual stress measurements (XRD, MBN), and advanced characterisation (SEM, EBSD, TEM) to ensure integrity and performance. - Technical Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
