Job Description

The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department (CPE) at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor position in Petroleum Engineering with specialization in Petroleum Production Engineering. Recognized for its academic excellence, the UAEU consistently ranks among the top universities in the region. All engineering programs, including the Petroleum Engineering, are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE. Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in the applicable field. The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses is a must. Industrial and professional experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualification

• A Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise and a strong publication record in Petroleum Production Engineering or related areas.
• Evidence of teaching excellence or potential at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• A proven ability or potential to secure research funding from internal and external sources.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

Expected Skills

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Petroleum Production Engineering, including topics such as well performance, artificial lift systems, production optimization, and surface facilities.
• Establish an impactful research program in Petroleum Production Engineering, focusing on areas such as production optimization, sustainability in production operations, or emerging technologies in the field.
• Secure research funding from internal and external sources to support scholarly activities.
• Supervise undergraduate capstone projects, Master’s theses, and potentially Ph.D. dissertations.
• Collaborate with industry stakeholders and academic peers to address key challenges and opportunities in production engineering.

Job Purpose
Supports the Proposal team by collecting, organizing, analyzing and managing all documentation needed for a proposal
Job Description

• Coordinate ITT review and execute quotation prep in line with agreed strategy. Focal point for preparation and submission of quotations. Review tender requirements and coordinate with relevant functions (ie. Sales & Aftermarket, Engineering, Planning, QA, HSES) to gather inputs for tender preparation and submission.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to address clarifications/negotiations. Coordinate contract review with internal and external stakeholders. Review tender – able to review the tender. Verify and follow up for the completeness of tender document. Conduct kickoff meeting with internal stakeholders.
• Prepare Order Execution Plan. Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) – able to prepare a BOM that meets tender scope of work in a timely manner. Confirm the BOM with the quotation layout.
• Prepare costing – able to estimate costs in a timely manner (full system costs will be handled by Costing team). Communicate clear requirements and get RFQs from qualified vendors / internal stakeholders. Adjust standard costs from SAP to reflect actual costs.
• Facilitate pricing of tender – able to present costs and historical prices. Seek pricing approvals. Package tender – able to coordinate and prepare the bid package within schedule.
• Identify commercial and legal terms and costs/risks – able to apply Incoterms. Identify critical risks on terms and seek advice from SME on LD term.

JOB PURPOSE: Identify and define business cases, best practices and case studies for promoting the use of Digital oilfield initiatives. Provide technical advice, consultation, and technical coaching to subsurface and field operations teams in Group Companies on topics related to Digital Oil Field technologies and application.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities

• Apply petroleum engineering techniques, digital information technologies and corporate standard procedures to generate value by enhancing surveillance, identifying workover candidates, preventing failures, and optimizing production economics.
• Design and implement automated engineering workflows that improve operations efficiency, optimize production, and maximize hydrocarbon recovery factor.
• Leverage data science methods and tools to extract insights from data, including data mining, predictive analytics, machine learning and big data.
• Lead upstream digital transformation initiatives that boost the reservoir performance through wells efficiency, equipment availability and operational constraints management.
• Document and share the value added and the lessons learned from internal and external use cases.
• Integrate key interrelated areas: people, automated workflows, processes and technologies, by defining interfaces, understanding the challenges and providing solutions.
• Prepare project charters, financial proposals, tender documents and contractor interfaces for new-solution projects, by defining requirements, work scope and breakdown structure, for enabling implementation of Digital Oilfield projects.
• Coach and mentor others and build working relationships across OPCOs and the wider industry.
• Utilize petro-technical software such as single well modal analysis, PipeSim, PETEX, Prosper, etc. to perform well and reservoir analysis.
• Work with network and system optimization applications (PSO or IAM) to optimize production and injection rates.
• Master well and system modelling tools such as Pipesim, Prosper, Gap, etc. to simulate and forecast well and network performance.
• Develop petro-technical workflow automation programs and scalable solutions that enhance efficiency and quality of engineering work.
• Use programming languages such as Python or R or MATLAB or C or SQL or C++ to create, modify and execute petro-technical scripts and codes.
• Develop and maintain relevant Communities of Practice to share experiences and best practices, guidelines and standards across all Group Companies.
• Proactively identify and mature relevant new technologies and harness Artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) to improve decision making and performance.

• Minimum 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with demonstrated ability to leverage real-time data and integrated models to optimize production systems and increase asset value.
• Strong exposure to data science and digital solutions, as well as a solid understanding of the entire production system (reservoir, wells, surface network and process) and the industry standard enterprise solutions (data management, visualization, etc.)
• Proven track record of developing standardized enterprise level solutions that are scalable, upgradeable and extensible.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to persuade/guide stakeholders to adopt the most sustainable approaches.
• Hands-on experience in Digital Oilfield (DOF), Production System Optimization (PSO), and Integrated Asset Modelling (IAM).

To be successful in this position, we expect you to leverage and be a critical asset in the following areas:

• Customer Engagement:
  • Engage directly with clients to understand their specific technical requirements and provide tailored solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Sales Support:
  • Collaborate with the broader sales team to develop and implement effective sales strategies.
  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities and contribute to building a robust sales pipeline.
• Technical discussions:
  • Leverage in-depth technical knowledge of our Industrial SaaS and its applications in the oil & gas domain to conduct technical discussions with clients and convince clients of our value proposition.
  • Provide onsite technical support to clients and partners, ensuring seamless implementation and integration.
• Partner Sales Collaboration:
  • Work closely with partner sales teams to help achieve their sales goals and objectives.
  • Support partners in incorporating our software solutions into their sales motions effectively.
• Coaching:
  • Coach and mentor partner sales teams, imparting technical knowledge and sales strategies.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to empower partners with the skills required for successful sales engagements.
• Collaboration with product organization:
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our software solutions based on field feedback.

Qualifications and key criteria

• A minimum of Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering).
• Experience in technical sales within the industrial software sector is desirable.
• Strong understanding of industrial processes and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.
• Excellent presentation and coaching skills.
• Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Proficiency in English is a requirement.
• Located in Americas, Middle East, or Southeast Asia, but other regions will be considered for highly qualified candidates.
• Ability to travel internationally and regionally 30-60% of the time.
