Role Overview:
Orbit International Survey Services LLC is looking for a skilled PLC Programming Engineer with proven expertise in Siemens SICAM PAS, SICAM A8000 RTUs (CP8022/CP8050), and WinCC SCMS systems. The role involves programming, configuration, testing, and commissioning of automation and control systems for high-voltage substations (765kV/400kV/220kV), with a strong focus on protocol integration, network communication, and IED configuration.
Key Responsibilities:
PLC Programming & Integration:
- Develop and troubleshoot Siemens PLC programs using TIA Portal (S7-1200, S
Configure and integrate communication with field devices using:
Modbus (RTU/RS485, TCP/IP)
- Profinet
- IEC GOOSE Messaging, MMS)
- IEC IEC104) for SCADA systems
- Configure IEDs, RTUs, and gateway devices for interoperability.
Testing & Validation:
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Simulate PLC control logic and communication signals using test benches or simulators.
- Validate communication between PLCs, HMIs, protection relays, and SCADA systems.
Commissioning Activities:
Lead and execute on-site commissioning, including:
I/O and signal testing
- Protocol testing (IEC61850/IEC104)
- Drive/VFD configuration (e.g., Siemens G120)
Substation or plant automation system startup
Ensure proper configuration of data points for SCADA/EMS/DMS integration.
Troubleshooting & Support:
- Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues in the field related to PLCs or protocol communication.
- Modify PLC or SCADA configurations during commissioning to meet changing requirements.
- Provide remote or on-site technical support during commissioning and post-handover.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare technical documents: communication matrices, IED configuration files, test reports, and commissioning checklists.
- Maintain project-specific backups and version control for PLC, SCADA, and communication configuration files.
- Support customer training and handover documentation.
- Bachelor's or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
- 3–6+ years in PLC programming and field commissioning, with hands-on Siemens PLC experience.
- Practical experience with industrial protocols: Modbus (RTU/TCP), Profinet, IEC61850, and IEC104.
- Siemens TIA Portal, S7-1200/1500, and HMI (WinCC, WinCC Unified).
- Configuration tools for IEDs and communication gateways (e.g., Siemens SICAM, Schneider, ABB PCM, SEL).
- Familiar with network diagnostics tools (Wireshark, IEC61850 test tools).
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, signal lists, and SCADA point lists.

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 years' experience as a Quality Control Engineer in project-based environments in infrastructure engineering/oil and gas/airport industries.
- ISO Auditor certification.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical and steelworks fabrication/installation works according to international standards.
- Preferred: Quality Control/Audit knowledge (ISO standards).
- Good knowledge of mechanical and steelworks quality control in industrial projects.
- Experience in writing reports/policies.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Effective stakeholder management/supplier management skills.
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis/reporting statistics.
- Diligent with great attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Excellent communication/writing skills.
