About the team

About the position
As a Public Policy Manager you will play a key role in monitoring evolving regional and global virtual assets policy and regulatory trends flagging risks and opportunities for the business. About you

The Tax and Payments Public Policy Manager, Southeast Asia (Public Policy Manager) will join a growing and dynamic team that works across the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, in support of Amazon’s global consumer and digital businesses. Like our business interests, our policy issues are broad, forward-looking, and driven by what is best for our customers.
The International Public Policy team works with a wide range of local, national, and supranational policymakers, industry organizations, and non-governmental organizations across policy issues spanning the consumer and commercial environment including but not limited to digital technology, consumer affairs, economic development, e-commerce exports, logistics, devices, and telecommunications. Key job responsibilities
As the Public Policy Manager, you will be responsible for partnering with policymakers in support of our consumer-centric business model at the highest levels of government and policy-making across Southeast Asia. You will have an astute understanding of the public policy and regulatory environment across the region, including the key stakeholders within it.
You will monitor and report on political and legislative developments, develop engagement strategies, drive external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, partnerships, and initiatives in support of our business objectives, in close collaboration with tax, payments, legal and public relations teams. You will also coordinate Amazon’s engagement with relevant industry associations and wider coalitions, and manage consultancy support.
You will be able to manage and drive complex projects, and provide clear and confident guidance, including in situations of high ambiguity.
You will be a confident leader, but also a team player who earns the trust of their colleagues by operating respectfully and collaboratively within wider regional and international business structures. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors of Business, Arts or Science required.
- 10+ years of relevant public policy and advocacy experience, eg within corporate public policy and government relations, in public administration, trade associations or non-governmental organizations.
- Business-level proficiency (written and spoken) in English.
- Track record of public policy success in consumer-facing, technology or logistics companies.
- Strong independent leader with sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to coordinate a wide array of internal and external resources to obtain information, provide astute analysis, and execute on a strategy, including in ambiguous situations.
- Extensive experience working with a range of external stakeholders including various levels of government, policy influencers, and industry associations.
- Experience working collaboratively in a highly-matrixed internal environment alongside multiple partner teams.
