The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the UAE University is seeking a highly motivated researcher to contribute to an interdisciplinary project focused on disaster risk management (DRM) using remote sensing (RS) and artificial intelligence (AI).
The project aims to develop innovative methods for detecting, monitoring, and assessing natural and human-induced hazards (e.g., floods, earthquakes, wildfires, erosion) to support sustainable development and climate resilience, in alignment with the COP28 Declaration on Climate.
The researcher should be knowledgeable of Remote Sensing and GIS techniques.

Our ideal candidate has hands-on experience working on large construction projects in the UAE and demonstrates an analytical, detail-driven approach to commercial review and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all post-contract cost management duties, including the evaluation of contractor claims, variations, and progress payments.
- Review and negotiate contractor submissions with clear commercial logic and technical insight.
- Maintain accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and financial control throughout project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and support dispute resolution, if required.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure cost certainty, schedule alignment, and value delivery.
- Attend site meetings, inspections, and liaise with contractors and consultants as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of post-contract experience in the UAE construction industry.
- Experience in large scale UAE Projects.
- Valid UAE driving licence and own transportation (preferred).
- Proven expertise in contract administration, variation evaluation, and cost reporting.
- Strong understanding of FIDIC-based and bespoke contract forms used in the UAE.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings, specs, and contract documents with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience with cost management software such as Cost X, CubiCost, AutoCAD, or Revit.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple workstreams.

- Support clients through smooth project management and execution.
- Manage a team delivering high-quality post-contract cost management services.
The selected candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for clients on small and medium-sized projects and be accountable for multiple project deliverables throughout their lifecycle within an end market sector.
The role requires briefing the team on project scopes to ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities and managing resources across multiple projects, ensuring adherence to budgets.
The successful candidate will also deliver a variety of funder advisory services throughout project phases, ensure quality control and compliance with procedures, assist with benchmarking data collection and internal reporting, supervise and mentor junior staff, and monitor and manage team performance to ensure project success and growth.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related construction field.
- Chartered RICS Membership (MRICS).
Experience:
- 8-10 years postgraduate experience.
- 4-5 years of experience in the Middle East.
