Job Overview

The Assistant Resident Engineer will be involved in working on projects associated with stormwater and drainage, flood alleviation, wastewater networks, and water distribution networks.

This role will involve undertaking investigations, pipeline valves, rising main construction supervision, and monitoring of design and infrastructure work.

1. Key Responsibilities
• Assist the Resident Engineer in administering the operational functions of the day-to-day activities on the project with respect to construction works.
• Interacting with contractors, sub-contractors, and laboratories & monitoring construction work on a daily basis.
• Coordinate with various government departments, contractors, consultants, and the public to facilitate progress and avoid delays.
• Coordinate his direct activities with the other engineers and members of the construction supervision team.
• Maintain logs of project progress, handing-over, and final accounts.
• Arrange progress meetings for various government/Interface authorities representatives, minute them, and distribute the records as required.
• Chair the meetings with the government/Interface agencies and any other meetings delegated by the Resident Engineer.
• Assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, and other activities including correspondence related to the project work and prepare replies for the review of the Resident Engineer.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare instructions, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with the contractor engineers on scheduling and application of resources.
• Direct, assist, and monitor the performance of the inspectors and surveyors as applicable.
• Review and approve design documents and construction plans and procedures.
• Prepare/Assist in the preparation of Weekly and Monthly progress reports.
• Keep necessary records and as-built records and take charge of the handing over of the project to the respective service authorities and assist the contractor to obtain necessary final clearance.
• Identifying non-conforming works, generating reports and corrective actions, and coordinating responses.
2. Client Service Management
• Internal and external client liaison.
• Ability to build and maintain lasting and positive relationships.
• Experience in utility diversions and management.
3. Safety and Compliance
• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
• Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
• Design for safety, i.e., Construction Design Management.
4. Other duties
• As requested from time to time by the Resident Engineer.

Qualifications

The Assistant Resident Engineer must have a relevant engineering degree from a recognized university and must have thorough knowledge and work experience of not less than 10 years in design, construction, and supervision of house connections and miscellaneous works and road work.

The candidate must also have full and complete knowledge of existing sewerage, drainage, and irrigation networks in the Emirate of Dubai.

He must also have thorough knowledge and work experience in dealing with emergency works.

A valid UAE driving license is required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Engineering degree from a recognized university.

Must possess a valid UAE Light Vehicle driving license.

5-7 years relevant work experience in Facilities Management/Cleaning industry holding a supervisory position in the Middle East.

Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages will be an advantage.

Ensure that the team of cleaning operatives perform to the standard as per the SLA.

Train and assign work to new and continuing employees.

Ensure that the buildings' Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times.

Liaise with the ACM and CM on a regular basis, dealing effectively with any problems or complaints that may arise.

Independently conduct performance evaluations including communication with subordinates.

• Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead assigned projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review project plans, scope of works, specifications, and schedules, identifying potential cost savings and variations.
3. Prepare project time schedules and resource plans, as well as assist in the preparation of project budgets and general conditions.
