Position overviewAs part of our Quality Control Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of engineering solutions for complex projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking quality inspections on material and manufactured items from a dimensional, visual and non-destructive perspective;
- Undertaking quality inspections on supplied and delivered items, ensuring these meet the material and technical requirements as well as checks for any non-conformities with respect to the relevant tolerances;
- Ensuring that proper WPS are displayed in the workshop and that Welders have a clear understanding of the requirements;
- Making sure that all manufacturing processes and procedures are adhered to in the workshop;
- Collecting and maintaining records for the Quality Documentary System;
- Attends ‘Kick-Off’ meetings if needed and assist Project team with project preparation;
- Coordinate with third party companies subject to project requirements (e.g. NDT, certify load and / or pressure tests, third party assigned by the client, etc.);
- Preparation of Fabrication Data Books in conjunction with the project team.

- Educational background : Engineering degree or similar;

We are currently seeking a QC Inspector for a 2–3 month project, with an immediate start date.
JOB PURPOSE
- Monitor & maintain records for activities relating to welding and NDE and ensure that all parameters are met in accordance with the documents of welding and NDE.
- To ensure quality of final deliverables by keeping code requirements and client specifications in view.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Material Inspections & Verifications
- Physically verify all incoming materials against received PO and submit preliminary Inspection reports as applicable for review.
- Accountable for the verification of transfer of material markings before cutting.
Welding Consumables Control
- Physically verify all incoming consumables against Requisition/PO and prepare inspection reports as applicable.
- Approve the Issue of Welding Consumables to be used in projects based on WPS considerations.
- Approve the return of welding consumables to stock based on the condition of the returned items and their future usability.
Welding Monitoring
- Ensure compliance of welding as against approved Weld Procedure Specification for the activities.
- Visually inspect all welds performed at the location of assignment and arrange for correction of any defects in line with applicable procedures.
- Maintaining Weld Traceability for all weld by assigning Numbers to the joints and ensuring traceability information are identified close to the joints.
- Coordinating with WS Supervisor to enable completion of the required NDT best suited to all involved.
Non-destructive Examination
- Carry out visual inspections of finished welds as per the code of fabrication and logging acceptance of the Welds in the Weld Summary Sheet.
- Coordinate with NDT contractor to ensure all NDT activities are performed as per ITP and client's specs.
- Raising NDE request and Identifying joints requiring NDT physically to allow the contractor to complete the requisites without much involvement.
- Track & obtain NDT reports, conduct a preliminary review to ensure all contents are good, log the results in the NDT Register and timely submit for line Manager's review.
Testing of PQR's & Witnessing Welders & Welding Operators tests
- Assisting in arranging testing of specimen according to the requirement of code and recording welding data to prepare Procedure Qualification record (PQR).
- Arranging Test coupons & Witnessing tests for each welder and welding operator for multiple processes in accordance with performance qualification requirement of the code.
Monitoring of Welders and Welding Operators performance
- Maintaining record of Welders and Welding Operators performance and continuity lists.
- Responsible to keep record of weld repairs and determining the ability of the Welders and Welding operators to make sound welds based on NDT results.
Welding Surveillance Audits
- Ensure the availability of required documentation of Welding & NDE processes through Welding Surveillance Audits.
Fabrication/Field Inspections
- Physical Verification of all Fitments extended for inspection from Workshop/Project team.
- Verify Traceability of all materials involved in the fitment against applicable drawings.
- Carrying out FOT & In process checks for Tube Bending, Swaging and Panel Bending Operations.
- Physical verification of Panel Welding during and after completion of Panels.
Miscellaneous
- Accompany third party inspectors at workshop or on site with regards to QC activities as and when required.
- Providing welder qualifications and weld procedure to site managers.
- Undertake any additional duties as and when required by the business.
- To identify system weakness and suggest new/efficient procedures to strengthen it;
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
