The physician's responsibilities include diagnosing and treating injuries, illnesses, and disorders, prescribing medications, making recommendations on lifestyle changes, and answering patients' questions. Summary

Responsible for providing expert surgical care for children with cleft lip and palate conditions, including diagnosis, surgical repair, and long-term management. The role involves performing complex reconstructive procedures, managing pre- and post-operative care, and monitoring developmental outcomes. The consultant works as part of an interdisciplinary cleft care team, collaborating with pediatricians, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, dentists, geneticists, psychologists, and social workers. The consultant also leads in clinical decision-making, supervises junior staff, contributes to education and research, and upholds the highest standards of safety and patient-centered pediatric care.

Education/Qualification:

• Basic medical degree from recognized institution

• Post-qualification certification

• Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.

• USA: American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)

• Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)

• UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register

• Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)

Experience:

• Experience in Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate is a must

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Managerial/Administration

• Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental, and divisional policies, procedures, and initiatives.

• Participates in the performance management system, including peer review, productivity, and utilization review processes.

• Assists with scheduling to always ensure adequate cleft and pediatric surgical service coverage.

• Attends divisional meetings, multidisciplinary cleft care conferences, and case review boards.

• Assists the Division Chief in recruiting surgical staff when appropriate.

• Contributes to strategic planning, resource allocation, and service development for cleft and pediatric surgery.

• Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as assigned by the Division Chief

Technical

Diagnoses and manages patients according to established standards of best practice for pediatric surgery. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Diagnoses and manages children with cleft lip and palate and related craniofacial anomalies according to established standards of best practice.

• Performs surgical repair and reconstructive procedures for cleft lip, cleft palate, and associated conditions.

• Oversees preoperative assessment, surgical planning, perioperative management, and long-term postoperative follow-up.

• Monitors speech, hearing, feeding, dental, and developmental outcomes, coordinating with the cleft care team.

• Works closely with pediatricians, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, dentists, geneticists, psychologists, and social workers to provide integrated patient care.

• Supervises and mentors junior staff, residents, and fellows involved in surgical and multidisciplinary cleft care.

• Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from internal and external facilities.

• Participates in on-call duties for urgent or complex pediatric surgical consultations and interventions.

• Maintains comprehensive and accurate documentation of patient care and surgical outcomes.

• Communicates effectively with patients families regarding surgical options, risks, and follow-up care.

Quality & Safety

• Leads or participates in quality improvement initiatives specific to cleft surgery and pediatric surgical services.

• Supports regular audits on surgical outcomes, complication rates, and adherence to evidence-based guidelines.

• Promotes compliance with surgical safety protocols and multidisciplinary best practices.

• Participates in the reporting, investigation, and learning from adverse events or near misses.

Education

• Provides teaching, mentorship, and supervision for residents, fellows, and allied health professionals in cleft and pediatric surgery.

• Facilitates training in cleft surgical techniques, perioperative care, and multidisciplinary case management.

• Participates in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and fosters professional development within the department.

• Contributes to clinical research, publications, and innovations in cleft lip and palate management.

• Stays updated with advances in surgical techniques, guidelines, and technologies in pediatric cleft care.

Female Plastic Surgery Nurse

• At least 2 years experience in Dubai
• DHA (At least 2 years experience in Dubai)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor the patient in the recovery room and assess recovery from anesthesia.

• Change dressings, wound care, and sutures.

• Provide the patient with home care instructions (such as hygiene, medications, and physical activity).

4. Psychological Support:

• Provide emotional support to patients experiencing anxiety or changes in self-image after surgery.
