The Laboratory Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. They ensure the quality management system is in place, documents are prepared and reviewed, accreditation processes are followed, analytical performance is maintained, and a safe laboratory environment is implemented.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Conduct medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
- Determine normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood and urine.
- Analyze blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopic techniques and procedures.
- Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock levels and anticipating needed supplies.
- Conserve laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to accomplish job results.
- Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Foster inter- and intradepartmental workflow by promoting cooperation and collaboration.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Participate in accreditation processes such as JCI and CAP.
- Perform ongoing maintenance of tests and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols, following identification procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect the organization's reputation by keeping information confidential.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology, with at least 2 years of experience. A DHA practice license is also required.
This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment while working with high-expectation patients.
