The Department of Chemistry at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is seeking applications for a full-time research assistant to target overexpressing proteins in breast cancer using a combination of drugs by a unique targeted drug delivery system. The successful candidate will be offered a two-year position in a research project supported by a UAEU research council. The candidate will be involved in a project investigating the delivery of drugs in breast cancer cell lines and in-vivo mouse models. The goal of the project is to validate the effectiveness of our novel delivery system, assessing the potential of targeting different proteins for HER2+ cancer management, and exploring broader therapeutic applications. Cell culturing techniques coupled with molecular biology techniques, data analysis, and in vivo studies on breast cancer mouse models will be done in the project.
Minimum Qualification
Highly self-motivated candidates with or fresh PhD in Biochemistry/Immunology/Oncology with a strong academic track record and relevant experience in molecular biology (cloning, electrophoresis, protein purification, western blotting, qPCR), cell culturing techniques, basic bioinformatics, and mice handling techniques are encouraged to apply. Practical experience with HER2+ breast cancer cells, drug delivery systems, and animal handling would be advantageous.
Preferred Qualification
Fresh PhD in Biochemistry/Immunology/Oncology.
Expected Skills
Candidates with experience in qPCR, electrophoresis, western blotting, tissue culture, protein purification techniques, drug delivery and cell toxicity assays, mice handling techniques, and data analysis are required.
