As the country's oldest oil production company, our operations date back to 1939, when a 75-year concession was signed to explore for oil and gas in Abu Dhabi. As a global industry leader in environmental sustainability, we are the first in the world to capture carbon from the iron and steel industry. Our Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) facility at Al Reyadah has the capacity to capture 800,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) from Emirates Steel Industries (ESI) each year, for use in the Bab and Rumaitha oil fields to support Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). Al Reyadah is, therefore, a critical enabler of ADNOC's 2030 sustainability goals.

JOB PURPOSE:
Update / Generate black oil and compositional simulation models with field development planning, short, and
long-term profiles. Conduct model sensitivities and prioritize development schemes applying best practices,
Uncertainty & Risk assessment and economics. Undertakes reservoir simulation studies to attain stated
objectives and translate results into operational guidelines.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Coordinates and works with Geoscientists on reservoir characterization and upscaling.
  • Builds sizable Full Field simulation models, history match and use them in predictions.
  • Conducts quality check and consistency of simulation model, history match scenarios with respect to
  • geological model characteristics.
  • Develops characterization of reservoir fluids and Equation of State (EOS) modelling, calibration and
  • Convert simple black oil models to compositional. Diagnoses model convergence and run-time problems.
  • Coordinates with Technical centre in designing IOR/EOR methods (WI, Immiscible GI, Miscible GI, and Surfactant and polymer injection) to enhance recovery and pressure maintenance methods.
  • Applies different methods of reserves estimation using probabilistic and deterministic methods (Mbal, DCA and simulation models sensitivities).
  • Identifies required action using simulation models for maximize recovery/meet current production quotas, design, follow up, QC and analyse reservoir studies e.g. RCA, SCAL and PVT.
  • Conducts special simulation studies for Field Development optimization (well pacing, infill wells,
  • advanced wells, Pilots)
  • Applies multiphase flow in the reservoir, effective permeability concept and correlations for relative
  • permeability. Integrate pressure and production test results for reservoir simulation and management decisions.
  • Contributes to reservoir monitoring program and data gathering with effective cost program to enable collecting necessary data to help best reservoir management and reduce uncertainties.
  • Liaises with contractors conducting the study, analyses and reviews findings and actions study recommendations. Participate in periodic update and validation of database with monthly production/injection data and descriptions to display wells, reservoir and field performance for appropriate distribution and Simulation model recalibration.

  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department / Section in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
  • Comply with the ADNOC Onshore/ ADNOC HSE procedure requirements
  • Report all incident and occupational illness to line supervisor.
  • If aware of any unsafe practice or condition, or if in any doubt about the safety of any situation, immediately consult their Line supervisor.
  • Carryout the emergency responsibilities in line with the respective roles as per the emergency organization
  • Be familiar with the ADNOC HSE Recognition and Accountability Framework requirements. Comply with all applicable HSE requirements at all times. Exercise the STOP Work Authority bestowed if any unsafe act or situation puts you or your colleagues at risk

  • Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

  • 8 years of experience in reservoir engineering including oil and gas fields' development management and Full Field simulation studies (use software models).
  • Reservoir and Production Operations Knowledge.

Reports to: Contracts, Procurement & Supply Chain Manager

The Contract Manager is responsible for managing negotiations and administration of subcontracts throughout the lifecycle of Company projects in the Middle East. This role ensures that Company interests are protected both commercially and contractually through thoroughly negotiated agreements and that subcontractors fulfill their technical, commercial, and contractual obligations to support project delivery within schedule, cost, and quality constraints.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contract Strategy & Structuring
  • Define the contract strategy aligned with project execution objectives. Advise project teams on the optimal contract model (lump sum, re-measurable, reimbursable, etc.). Structure and negotiate key commercial and legal terms in collaboration with Legal and Finance teams.

  • Tendering & Award Support
  • Lead contractual negotiations with bidders during the ITT process. Assist Purchasing Officers in negotiating Payment Milestones, Bank Guarantees, and other commercial aspects. Review and approve bid evaluation reports and contract award recommendations.

  • Subcontractor Management Oversight
  • Supervise the performance of the Subcontract Engineer. Ensure consistency and compliance in subcontract administration. Provide guidance on managing contractor claims, variations, and obligations.

  • Contract Administration & Execution
  • Oversee contract execution, ensuring proper implementation of contractual terms. Monitor contractor obligations, milestone achievements, and performance indicators. Coordinate with project controls to track deliverables, payment schedules, and deadlines.

  • Change & Claims Management
  • Lead assessment and negotiation of variations, extensions of time, and claims. Maintain a register of changes and ensure proper documentation and approval of change orders. Support dispute avoidance and resolution.

  • Risk & Compliance Monitoring
  • Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks throughout the contract lifecycle. Ensure compliance with corporate policies (e.g., Code of Conduct, Ethics, Anti-Corruption, HSE standards). Liaise with legal, tax, and insurance departments as needed.

  • Stakeholder Coordination
  • Interface with project management, procurement, cost control, and legal teams. Represent the company in client or partner contract reviews and audits. Coordinate with suppliers and clients on contractual matters affecting progress or performance.

  • Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare periodic reports on contract status, key risks, claims, and commercial exposure. Ensure all correspondence and contract files are well documented and traceable. Maintain up-to-date contract databases and trackers.

  • Team Mentoring & Development
  • Guide and develop Subcontract Engineers and junior staff. Promote good contract management practices across teams.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 10 years of experience in contract or subcontract engineering roles within the Oil & Gas or EPC industry.
  • Solid understanding of contract law, subcontracting strategies, and claims management.

Arabian Gulf Business Insight (agbi.com), is a business news platform dedicated to creating insightful content for senior business leaders across the MENA region and global markets. We are now recruiting for a journalist who will specialise in the oil and gas sectors in the Gulf and wider Middle East to join our newsroom in Dubai.

Oil is the dominant sector in the GCC and wider Middle East. Despite ambition diversification strategies by the region’s governments, oil their long-term economic success is still heavily dependent on this core sector.

As AGBI’s Oil and Gas Editor, you will serve as the in-house expert, delivering timely, high-quality content that provides depth, context, and clarity on developments within the energy sector—ranging from upstream and downstream activity to energy policy, OPEC+ decisions, renewables integration, and national diversification strategies such as Saudi Vision 2030.

We offer a competitive remuneration package as part of an intellectually curious and highly motivated team.

Suit able candidates will have at least five years’ relevant reporting experience, having worked in a busy newsroom.
