Job Description:

The post holder will always work within the scope of practice, putting the health, wellbeing and safety of their patient first as they assess, plan, implement and evaluate their needs.

  • Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.
  • Assess and identify patients' needs and implement and monitor the patient's medical plan and treatment. They will work with a team of physicians and other healthcare specialists or allied health in various settings.
  • Perform systematic patient assessment, re-assessment and collect pertinent data about the patient's health or situation.
  • Understand and analyse the assessment information and data.
  • Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
  • Define the predicted and expected outcomes of the patient's planned care.
  • Create and evaluate patient care plans with the interprofessional team, in collaboration with the patient and patient's bystanders.
  • Record vital signs, recognize, address and escalate all abnormalities.
  • Maintain and update technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice.
  • Employ strategies to promote patients' health and a safe environment.
  • Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory examinations.
  • Perform essential life support as per regulatory requirements and scope such as but not limited to Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation etc.
  • Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment.
  • Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions.
  • Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions.
  • Provide wound care management.
  • Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed.
  • Facilitate the process of safe patient's admission, transfer and discharge.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with all the qualifications and experience these mandates.
  • Manage their own professional re-licensure.
  • Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
  • Be willing to work across departments when necessary.

The Specialist Physician shares the same responsibility of the Consultant Physician for delivering high quality, evidence-based and patient-centered care. The post holder is expected to be an example of clinical excellence within the Division and contributes to the supervision and training of junior medical staff.

Responsibilities

•Supports and adheres to all hospital departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
•Supports and participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
•Assists with Consultant staff in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times
•Attends Divisional meetings as invited
•Supports the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents
•Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Consultant Staff
•Under the supervision of the Consultant Physician, diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty. The Specialist’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following:

•Performs other clinical as assigned

•Supports a culture of regular audit and encourages the use of audit results for improving clinical practice

  • Supports and adheres to all hospital departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Supports and participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
  • Assists with Consultant staff in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times
  • Attends Divisional meetings as invited
  • Supports the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents
  • Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Consultant Staff
  • Under the supervision of the Consultant Physician, diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty. The Specialist’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assists the Consultant Physician in supervising the activities of junior medical staff, and jointly assumes responsibility for the care they provide
  • Complies with all hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices
  • Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources
  • Leads ward rounds; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice
  • Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures
  • Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required
  • Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required
  • Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients
  • Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent
  • Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals
  • Participates in and supports the Consultant Physician in ensuring the provision of out of hours on call) coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays as required
  • Communicates clinical information to patients and the patient’s family and friends (with consent of the patient) in a timely manner
  • Maintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient care
  • Performs other clinical as assigned
  • Helps support quality improvement initiatives within the Division
  • Supports a culture of regular audit and encourages the use of audit results for improving clinical practice
  • Supports the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents
  • Promotes and participates in clinical research and publication
  • Promoting and assisting in the instruction, guidance and supervision of junior medical staff (required)
  • Keeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry
  • Participates in clinical research and publication

  • Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures and practices and ensuring alignment with SSMC facilities policies
  • Completing and maintaining regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames
  • Maintaining confidentiality with regards to any information exchanged or received in the current capacity of role in accordance with facility policy
  • Maintaining positive and effective working relationships within the department/division and also with other departments/sections within the facility
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned relevant to the basic of the role
  • Adhering to requirements of the Occupational Health and safety guidelines and infection control guidelines
  • Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies
  • Recognizing the necessity of continuously developing skills and acquiring additional knowledge appropriate to the position
  • Dressing appropriately to meet the expectations of the specific work area and in alignment with the Occupational Health and Safety policies
  • Building key partnerships within the organization for pursuing client-centered, comprehensive, integrated systems of care
  • Complying with any regulations related to mentoring, training and development of UAE nationals staff

  • Tier 1: No additional experience is required post board certification.
  • Tier 2: NLT 2 years of clinical experience post qualification in an internationally accredited institute.
UAE Nationals:
  • No additional experience required post board certification
For UAE Nationals + Non-UAE Nationals enrolled in HAAD accredited residency programs:
  • No experience required post board certification
  • C. Tier 3: NLT 3 years clinical experience as Specialist post qualification in an internationally accredited institute

Job Description

An internationally accredited healthcare provider in Dubai is seeking experienced and highly skilled ICU Nurses to join its critical care team. This is an outstanding opportunity for Western-trained nurses to deliver top-tier patient care in a modern technologically advanced clinical environment.

As an ICU Nurse you will care for patients with life-threatening conditions delivering round-the-clock high-acuity care using state-of-the-art equipment and international clinical protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive patient-centered nursing care to critically ill adults in a high-acuity ICU setting.

  • Monitor vital signs manage ventilators administer life-saving medications and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition.

  • Collaborate with intensivists physicians and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.

  • Ensure meticulous documentation and maintain accurate patient records via electronic health systems.

  • Follow strict infection control procedures and adhere to international nursing and safety standards.

  • Offer emotional support and clear communication to families during difficult and sensitive times.


Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent from an accredited institution.

  • Current valid nursing license in home country or country of practice.

  • Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience in a high-dependency or critical care setting.

  • BLS and ACLS certification required.

  • Preference for candidates trained and registered in the UK Ireland USA Canada Australia New Zealand or South Africa.

  • Strong clinical judgment communication and critical thinking skills.

  • Comfortable working in a multicultural team and adapting to international standards of care.

  • Willing to work in Dubai
