Role Overview: Health and Safety Officer
The Health and Safety Officer assists the Cluster EHS Manager in maintaining OSH and food safety standards across the hotel, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations. The role involves leadership in audits, incident investigations, and promoting continuous improvement through strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the OSH and FSMS are fully implemented and maintained according to applicable regulations.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on OSH and FSMS performance, trends, and recommendations.
- Lead or participate in audits related to OSH, HACCP, and other standards; guide conformance and corrective actions.
- Manage audit processes to ensure compliance with safety and food standards.
- Analyze audit results, identify trends, and develop corrective actions.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.
- Monitor changes in regulations and update policies accordingly.
- Drive continuous improvement through tracking OSH goals and providing feedback.
- Conduct training for team members on OSH and food safety policies.
- Perform inspections and implement corrective actions to maintain safety.
- Ensure supplier and contractor compliance through audits and communication.
- Maintain documentation related to OSHMS and FSMS.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.
Candidate Profile
- Experience as a Health & Safety Representative for over 2 years in Abu Dhabi or over 3 years in other UAE emirates; 4+ years in other regions.
- Competent in developing and implementing health & safety management systems per DCT & ADPHC standards.
- Qualification at least Level 3 in Health & Safety.
- Abu Dhabi Occupational Health & Safety Practitioners Course (ADVETI).
- ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor qualification.
- IOSH Technical/Associate membership or equivalent.
- Up-to-date first aid training (including CPR, 8 hours).
- Proactive risk identification and solution implementation skills.
- Responsible self-starter, capable of handling multiple projects under pressure.
- Excellent communication, guest relations, and problem-solving skills.
- Team player with strong leadership and team-building abilities.
- Personable, reliable, approachable, with a positive attitude and flexibility.
- High integrity, capable of nurturing and developing team members.
- Good grooming, presentation, and effective communication skills.
- Proficient in computer skills and experienced in delivering training.
