Department: R&D / Manufacturing Reports to: Head – R&D / Technical Director Role Summary The Research Scientist will be responsible for research, development, optimization, validation, and transfer to manufacturing of RT-PCR diagnostic kits. The role involves assay design, troubleshooting, analytical validation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards for molecular diagnostics. Key Responsibilities • Assay Development & Optimization • Design and optimize primers, probes, and reaction conditions for real-time PCR–based assays. • Develop multiplex RT-PCR assays with high sensitivity and specificity. • Standardize sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction, and amplification workflows. • Validation & Verification • Conduct analytical validation (LOD, linearity, specificity, cross-reactivity, precision, reproducibility). • Support clinical validation studies with reference materials and clinical samples. • Prepare technical reports and validation documents. • Technology Transfer & Manufacturing • Scale-up optimized assays for routine kit manufacturing. • Prepare and standardize master mixes, controls, and QC panels. • Work closely with production and QA/QC teams for batch release and troubleshooting. • Regulatory & Quality Compliance • Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, IVD regulations, and applicable international standards. • Draft and maintain SOPs, technical files, and risk management documents. • Support regulatory submissions and audits. • Cross-Functional Collaboration • Liaise with product management, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure smooth R&D-to-market transition. • Train technical staff on new assay protocols and troubleshooting.
Requirements
• Ph.D. / M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology Life Sciences, Genetics or related field. • PhExperience in NGS/Genomics would be a plus. • PhExperience in assay design, troubleshooting, analytical validation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards for molecular diagnostics.

NYUAD Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research scientist to work on the development of membrane desalination to treat water from the Arabian Gulf feed sources and on the design and scale-up of low energy membranes for water purification, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering. The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on developing functional membrane materials, including nanostructured polymer membranes tailored to microfiltration, ultrafiltration, membrane distillation, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. The candidate will employ advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools (SEM, TEM, DSC, TGA, BET, etc.) to establish fabrication-structure-property-performance relationships in novel materials for sustainable desalination and water treatment. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and engineers, graduate students and undergraduate students. The successful applicant will manage projects and work closely with postdoctoral researchers, build deep technical knowledge and develop transferable solutions. This position will begin in March 2026 as a two-year contract, renewable depending on performance. Qualifications for Internal Candidates
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (minimum of three (3) years full-time course duration) or
- Degree in Nursing (minimum two (2) years course duration) and Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia
- For UAE nationals graduates of UAE or non-UAE universities are exempted from the experience and clinical training requirements for the applied title. (UAE nationals must submit a copy of their birth certificate and the mother's family book)
- Non-UAE national graduates from UAE universities are required to successfully complete six (6) months of clinical training post-graduation in an APS health facility (except for Registered and assistant Nurse titles)
- Must hold a valid License/Registration to practice in their home country and/or country of last employment (where applicable)
- Must hold a minimum of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or others according to the scope of practice.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent post-graduate experience
- Knowledge of and ability to render care and services based on age, appropriateness, and developmental needs of patients.
- Skills in the assessment of patient and family's physical and psychological needs

About the job
As a member of the AI model team, you will drive innovation in architecture development for cutting-edge models of various scales, including small, large, and multi-modal systems. Your work will enhance intelligence, improve efficiency, and introduce new capabilities to advance the field.
You will have a deep expertise in video generation model architectures with a hands-on, research-driven approach. Your mission is to explore and implement novel techniques and algorithms that lead to groundbreaking advancements: data curation, strengthening baselines, identifying and resolving existing pre-training bottlenecks to push the limits of model performance.
Responsibilities
Pioneer multimodal and video-centric research that moves fast and breaks ground, contributing directly to usable prototypes and scalable systems.
Design and implement novel AI architectures for multimodal language models, integrating text, visual, and audio modalities.
Engineer scalable training and inference pipelines optimized for large-scale multimodal datasets and distributed GPU systems across thousands of GPUs.
Optimize systems and algorithms for efficient data processing, model execution, and pipeline throughput.
Build modular tools for preprocessing, analyzing, and managing multimodal data assets (e.g., images, video, text).
Collaborate cross-functionally with research and engineering teams to translate cutting-edge model innovations into production-grade solutions.
Prototype generative AI applications showcasing new capabilities of multimodal foundation models in real-world products.
Develop benchmarking tools to rigorously evaluate model performance across diverse multimodal tasks.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Expertise in Python & Pytorch, including practical experience working with the full development pipeline from data processing & data loading to training, inference, and optimization.
Experience working with large-scale text data, or (bonus) interleaved data spanning audio, video, image, and/or text.
Direct hands-on experience in developing or benchmarking at least one of the following topics: LLMs, Vision Language Models, Audio Language Models, generative video models .
PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, NLP, Computer Science, Applied Statistics, or a closely related field
Demonstrated expertise in computer vision, video generation foundation model and/or multimodal research.
First-author publications at leading AI conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS etc.

Academic Background:
A degree in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, or a related field.
Experience:
1 year of experience in data analysis. Hands-on experience with analyzing ecological or biological datasets is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Capable of handling, cleaning, and organizing large datasets for statistical analysis.
Knowledge of experimental design, hypothesis testing, and reporting results in a scientific context.
Strong expertise in R and Python for statistical modelling, machine and deep learning, and data visualization.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
